2.9 Golden City The Geologist 16oz can from a friend, drank in Laguna Hills on 14th July 2023. Deep brown, almost black bodied, beige head. Malty and sweet and even though it is 8.6% the body feel was 'thin' and un-Doppelbock like in my opinion and where is the 'ator' at the end of it's name? Saturday, July 15, 2023

3 Golden City Coffee Coconut Chaos 16oz can from a friend, drank on 14th July 2023 in Laguna Hills. Black bodied, short lived beige head. 3.5 Golden City Legendary Red Ale can as a gift. This is a really clear beer with a bold color and a firm white head. Quite good looking. The aroma is nutty with caramel, a touch of wet hay/wet dog, and subtle hints at berries. The body is medium with carbonation levels right in the middle too. Sweet flavors of bread and toffee almonds come through. I was expecting an American red ale when I cracked this, but this is clearly European leaning. I get big Munich malt impressions. It finishes clean and semi-sweet. Not much hop character to speak of. It's all about the malt with flavors of nuts, biscuits, puffed rice, and toffee. Thursday, March 28, 2019

3.8 Golden City Fat Cat Pint can received as a gift. This beer is deep, dark red with a tall head. The aroma is full of malty goodness. Plenty of brownies, toffee, tobacco, basement, spicy wood, and dark fruit are noted. The body is pretty full. Alcohol is mildly present. There's a fair hop bite to balance the bready body. Flavors of caramel, berries, woody hops, tobacco make up the palate. Lots of musty character is in the finish. This has the right amount of residual sugar. Sometimes these British strong ales get sticky, particularly with this high alcohol. Fat Cat is real solid. Wednesday, March 13, 2019
