Herzog_Wilhelm	3.2 La Gâtine Brune Bought in Montargis at the Leclerc Hypermarché. The most local beer there, I guess. First impression is somehow thin but decent, some roasted malt, a hint of bitter "houblon". Sweet aromas (from the honey/miel) and something exotic from the coriander. L’attaque est maltée : sucre et caramel, ensuite une pointe de levures et de fruits jaunes ainsi qu’une note d’amertume, finale légèrement aigrelette. KLTZK	3 La Gâtine Brune Bottle 33 cl. First of all, the cap on the bottle was terrible. My bottle opener went right through the top. The famous French quality I guess. Pours a large off-white head. Dark brown appearance with a lot of yeast floating around. Floral, hoppy aroma. Tastes a bit weird, it’s like a part of the taste is missing. Hints of malts, a lot of yeast, some fruits and hops. Pretty sweet. Long floral aftertaste. Watery texture. No carbonation. Wednesday, January 1, 2014

Taste is a bit metallic at first (but this later dissappears), then some overripe fruit, red fruit and yeast. Would this have been a 10% beer, with a decent body, it would make a 4+beer. KyotoLefty	3.5 La Gâtine Brune Bottle from La Bon Marche, Paris. Very cloudy dark brown with a low head. Rich, malty, fruity aroma, chocolate, plums. Sweet, rich flavor, caramel with lots of chocolate and raisins, dried fruits. Slightly spicy, like cinnamon. A bit overly sweet, though tasty, clean, and with a rather dry, earthy finish. KyotoLefty	3.6 La Gâtine Ambrée Bottle from La Bon Marche, Paris. Very muddy, cloudy light brown with lace. Looks like fresh cider. Fruity, tangy, slightly citric aroma with a bit of caramel and earth, spices, stewed plums, and orange. Tangy, spicy, fruity flavor. Sweet with caramel, but balanced by a tangy edge and a nice earthy bitterness that gets quite strong at the finish. Spicy, yeasty, flavorful and satisfying. Tuesday, September 7, 2010
DeanF	2.5 La Gâtine Blanche With some of these beers I like to "tease" the beer out of the bottle, by pouring it 10-30cm away from the glass.... and a good thing too, as it helped improve the head of this beer immeasurably! Plenty of head (when poured correctly), foggy yellow-orange colour. Aroma of fake witbier adjuncts and lemon and hops. Taste is a lot of lemon, slight wheat beer chemicals. Palate is watery. DeanF	0.9 La Gâtine Blonde Here we go - the rating that puts this beer on the percentile list! Head is slow to form, but once it does, it’s quite solid. Body is a foggy light orange. Aroma is an odd mix of detergent and malt, artificial powder and other weird stuff that just doesn’t seem right, like someone dropped one of your grandfather’s breath mints into the brew. The taste isn’t as bad, but it’s a mix of malt and wheat adjuncts, the fake witbier chemicals that the big supermarkets use. Like, seriously? This sucks. KAggie97	4 La Gâtine Blanche Bottle from a cheese store in Fontainebleau, France. Pours a beautiful and thick meunster yellow with an aroma of light lemon, citrus-sour yeast, and a touch of rose. Flavor is lemon Pledge-esque but isn’t offensive; nice, light lemon zest notes with a rounding out of lemon bread and a touch of coriander. Slick and light on the tongue. A great beer. rand	2.9 La Gâtine Brune Bouteille de 33 cl de la Cave de l’Estam à Verdun (F). Couleur brune-rouge foncée à mousse beige, pétillement doux. Senteurs torréfiées de malt et caramel, il y a du fruit caché derrière le voile d’amertume. Le goût est bien roti, avec de la douceur et du fumé. Rich aroma, if not an odd one; cereal wheat, brown sugar, fig, sherry, dried apricot and date; quite vinous and sharp. Lengthy body, plenty of weight fr strength, smooth creamy, near-velvet body, carbonation is quite low. Dark brown sugar and mollases on the body, cocoa malt follows, all rich and bold. Dark fruits fill in the gaps; plums, prunes, dates, figs, raisins, you name it. Bit of soothing alcohol warmth on the finish, quite smooth overall. Mild aroma; some caramel and honey, bit of clove spice and bread, with an underlying earthiness. Rich body, carbonation is suprisingly low, soft, drying texture. Caramel and wheat cereal malts on the body, hints of dried fruit on a dry finish. Similiar to the blond, more body, rich malt flavour. Thursday, November 5, 2009
Muggus69	3 La Gâtine Blonde Slightly hazy straw-gold body with fluffy white head. Aroma is REALLY wheaty/cereal-like upfront (Weetbix?), subtle spice and ripe fruit take a back seat. Reasonably low carbonation, drying texture, good full length. Wheat malt body, fair bit of clove-like phenolics, subtle citrus undertones. Dry finish, bit chalky, low bitterness. Reasonably low carbonation, bit of creaminess and drying wheat quality. Sweet malts upfront; hay and cereal flavours lead onto orange and spice.
