Cascade Kagua Sour
corked and caged bottle, 2018, tasted apr 4 2024 pours chestnut brown with a small white to offwhite head. Aroma is sour and slightly malty - it fits totally in the sour belgian bruin category for me, was I blind tasting I would place the beer definetly from belgium, as a sour bruin, one of the finer ones. the sourness (vinagre salad dressing sour) is toned by several finer complexity adding notes like wood, bourbon wood, roasted malts. all notes I can find could be brewing-process derived rather than just fruit and stuff added. great aroma almost a 9. much closer to 8.5 than 8. Flavor has some notes from the added yuzu and perhaps also the pepper, base beer seem to be seriously sour, also seems to lack a little bit of yeasty body, compared to the belgians. very decent sour with lots of complexity to explore. The alc.% is fitting and not spoiling anything, good collaboration, has kept very well the 6 years since botteling, could keep for years more I think.

Bottle, gift from Dad. Hazy brown body with ruby highlights and no head. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of cranberry, raisin and red wine. Flavour of red wine and bitter lemon. Thin body with a slick texture. Light fizz. This is very sour and intense; I hoped it would be a bit more soft and nuanced. The ABV is well hidden.

On tap at Brew’d Craft Pub, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Nose is full of coriander and basil upfront, with some grapefruit rind and sea salt. Flavour is pungent on the basil upfront, followed by coriander, sea salt, and citrus zest. Dry, salty and extremely herbal — they certainly used a lot of basil here. Pretty good stuff.

Canned 8/21. Red, no head. 3- Sharp aroma with plump berries, wood. Softer texture than suggested by the aroma and a little residual sweetness too, so that the acidic notes of the aroma aren't harsh. Nice berries. Long sour finish drifts slowly towards wood and stems. Good.

2020 version 11.8% alc. Purchased from Westside Taphouse in Salem OR. Pours a deep golden with a wispy head. Attractive! Aroma of vinegar and wine. Nice. Some strawberry aspects. Nice. Taste delicious. Like a bourbon whiskey mixed with sour all. Can really feel the bourbon ageing herd. But the taste is bright and fruity , invigorating. Lovely mouth feel. Very quenching for a 12 % beer, A classic from Cascade Lodge

Cascade Burbonic Plague - Dates & Spices
On tap at E9 Gastropub, pours a deep dark brown with a tiny head. Nose brings out plenty of dates, tart fruits, Christmas spices, and a hint of bourbon. Flavour is minimally acidic (for Cascade), with lots of dates, bourbon, some balsamic, and oak. All sorts of clashing notes but somehow it works. Spicy, dark fruity and oaky finish. Good for what it is.

Cascade Apricot Ale
Canned on 22FEV2216:23. Ok....Drunk 8/30/23. Clear, blonde-apricot flesh. Small, white head to ring. Oh baby, juicy apricot galore with big brett and mellow lactic acidity. Easygoing oak. Juicy apricot, bursts of bright acidity including light acetic, but it's pretty low overall. Lots of mellow lactic and mild brett with cringeworthy acidity on the finish, but excellent flavors and juicy, authentic apricots.
