medkung	2.3 Sapporo Yebisu Draught version This one you can see around supermarket to convenience stores around Japan and I tried this one in Singapore and then try draught version in Japan. It’s nearly clean body, smooth foam, low to medium sweet, nothing harsh or weird. Tasting lead from malty tastes and some adjunct then straightforward to hops tastes such as bitter, floral and feel some booze. It’s ok. Thursday, March 28, 2024

KyotoLefty	3.2 Sapporo Yebisu Creative Brew Citrus Blanc Can. Thought it was a Wit from the name. Citrus and wheat nose. Not over the top with the additives, nicely malty, smells more like their wheat lager than a Witbier. Just a hint of lemon grass. Clear gold with a low head. Looks like regular Yebisu. More lemon and herbs in the flavor, nice wheat malt, spicy hop finish. Not at all a Wit. Not sure but seems like a lager fermentation. Not particularly striking, but highly drinkable. Crisp and hoppy, herbal, slightly pissy, lots of citrus. Very interesting hop character--new types of Noble hops, I think. Silky body. A bit too much. Medium bitterness. Not great, but all right. maekchu	3.5 Sapporo Beer Surprise Koku no Shinzui (2023) Can from Family Mart. Dark amber color, with a fluffy off-white head. Roat malt nose, with some floral and cake flour notes, something like powdered sugar -- rich and pleasant. Roasty flavor, with some dark fruit, Sweetness throughout, apple sauce with herbs. Much more body and bitterness than most macro beers and also than most beer in this fun series from Sapporo. Very flavorful. maekchu	3.3 Sapporo Nippon Hop Kiseki no Hop Furano Magical Can. Clear bright gold color with small swirls of fine-beaded carbonation rising and a filmy head. Some noble-like hops in the aroma -- but not really "strong," as they claim on the Sapporo website page for the new beer. Citrusy, with light lemony notes. And then it goes sweet from mid palate and stays that way. Some mild bitter tracks in the finish. Maybe a touch too sweet for the style. Apples, stone fruit, and the lightest touch of bitterness that is not integrated at all. It's like biting into a sweet apple that is rotten at the core. No. No. No. Don't need this one. maekchu	3.3 Sapporo Yebisu Creative Brew Orange Can. Rich dark amber color and one finger of dimpled white foam. Signature Yebisu aroma, medium-light roast, with something darker added (perhaps raisins. Lightly floral. As with the aroma, there is a light bit of toasty malt. The orange peel enters in mid palate, but seems again something like raisins. Smoother and a bit heavier than regular Yebisu. The orange peel somehow complements the hops. KyotoLefty	3.2 Sapporo Nippon Hop Kiseki no Hop Furano Magical Can from Yamaya. Bready malt nose, light biscuits and honey, just a touch doughy, with citrus, floral hops, quite noble in character. Subtle but nice enough. Deep, clear gold with a medium head. Hops come off more lemony in the flavor, and the malt character a bit sweeter and doughier. Biscuits. Medium body. Lightly sweet, rich malt, but rather complex. Spicy, earthy hops with medium bitterness. Reminds me of a Franconian festbier. Not bad at all. Might be stocking up on this and the last one.
