Hopshackle Shamuzzle
500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Nov 23. Thanks Simon for this. Expected trad but actually pours a misty yellow with white head, and an encouraging tropical hop aroma. Myriad fruity tropical flavours to taste. Fairly light bodied, lighter malt than standard haze but a pleasant fruity sipper.

Monday 27th November 2023, Monthly gathering in Chez Sophie. 500ml bottle, cheers Simon, not had a Lincolnshire beer for a while, even if I found this a bit strange. White crust on a hazed golden body, citrus front to the nose and taste, becoming sweeter, then dropping back into a kind of semi-tartness.

Cask conditioned at Peterborough Beer Festival '23, Cambs. Chestnut with cream head. This proved to be quite a sweet, fruity, plummy beer. Quite full on the palate, the aniseed in this was quite restrained thankfully. It's okay.

Hopshackle Imperial Stout
275ml bottle [2010 vintage, #1439/1600]. Jet black colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty, chocolately, malty spicy aroma, notes of dark chocolate, couverture, liquorice, a touch of marmite, roasted nuts, dark caramel, ashy overtones. Taste is roasty, chocolately, dark malty, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, some couverture, liquorice, a sweet-ish touch of treacle, caramel, roasted nuts, a minimally ashy touch, bitter hoppy counterpart. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, soft carbonation. In these flourishing "flavoured" times a nice reminder of what a classic if not historic Imperial Stout can be. Pretty good.

Hopshackle Extra Special Bitter
(Cask at Cambridge Festival of Winter Ales 2018; 19 January) (6:3:7:3+:13=3.2) A light copper beer with a loose head. The aroma has pleasant light malts and a touch of dried fruit. This is a slightly sweet bitter with a reasonably long finish of bittering hops. Not mega-exciting but a good bitter. Unusually, I'm not sure whether Phil had this (cask may have run out post-sample).
