Tama Brewery Reviews

Tama Weizen
Bottle. Cloudy, yellow-orange color with a tall fine head. Aroma of wheat malt, cloves, citrus, bananas. Less fragrant than expected. Rather spicy flavor, medium malt richness, bananas and cloves, pepper, a touch of citrus. Somewhat grainy. Not as rich as usual, lighter but spicier than usual as well. Interesting, and good enough, though somewhat lacking on the malt side.

Tama Rauch
Dark brown with an amber tint. Tall, off-white head. Faint smoked aroma, slightly fruity, with hops. An ale, I suppose. Decent dark malt. Well smoked flavor, a bit sweet, chocolate, very malty. A bit of dark fruit, hops. Good malt indeed, smoking decent though certainly lighter than German varieties. Very rich and full-flavored with excellent balance. Right up their with the best non-Bamberg rauchbiers I have had.

2.4
Tama Beer Super Ale
Bottle mail order from the brewery. Medium to darker amber color, tall, fine off-white head. Aroma of amber malt, earthy, dry, slightly grainy and nutty. Slightly roasted caramel malt flavor, cereals, dry. Just a touch of fruit, somewhat strong yeast character. Finish of dry grain and hops. Not really much character to it at all. It is something like an alt, though not a very good version of it. Not bad, but not very good either. Not much aroma or flavor, and somewhat boring.

Tama Beer Super Ale
Hazy amber colour. Slightly malty nose, with hints of nuttiness. Slightly fizzy, vaguely nutty with some breadcrust. Smooth and balanced, and quite drinkable as ambers go.

Tama Beer Super Ale
Bottle, special procurement. Warm orange-brown. Slight citrus rind in nose. Fruity hops. Balanced with a vague but lively fruitiness throughout. Finishes thin but quaffable. Good!
