COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Paulaner Salvator with its strong, typically malty taste is the original Paulaner. The bottom-fermented Doppelbock-Bier unites the finest hops and dark barley malt. The Paulaner monks served Salvator as a replacement for food at Lent. Their most famous brewer was Brother Barnabas, who was the head of the Paulaner monastery brewery starting from 1773. Its original recipe is today almost the same as it was in Barnabas’ time. In order to protect the original recipe, Paulaner had the trade mark "Salvator" patented in 1896.

The defining modern example of the dopplebock style. There is simply none better in the world today.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2017 rated 03/15/2010 - A rich, dark golden-brown, plenty of malt, with hints of caramel, almond (or maybe hazelnut), and a definite taste of alcohol. Excellent for cold weather, a bit heavy for summer. 07/18/2017 - I’ve had this fresh, in Germany, several times now, and that tips the balance to a perfect score. Strong caramel malt, for sure, but so well done, and so well-balanced. High recommendations

One of the best beers I’ve tasted. Alcohol level high, not that I’m complaining.

Pauliner's Salvatore: has a unique dark rich taste that is often described as "liquid bread," it a hearty beer that can be a mini-meal by itself. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Another great German beer. Delicious and less pricey than some other worthy beers. A staple in my beer fridge.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2007 Bottle... Beautiful auburn (ish) color with a nice brown (ish) head. Wonderful aroma. Perfect bitterness (which I adore) and a bittersweet finish. This was my first try and it’s already an instant Top 10 for me. On second try, I decided to rate it higher. Double Bock is simply fantastic!
