Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy The Scotch Ale, or Wee Heavy, is a light copper to dark brown colored, rich, malty, and usually significant caramel-sweet Ale that can give an impression that is suggestive of a dessert. It features complex secondary malt and alcohol flavors as well as low hop bitterness. It is historically, the strongest beer from a Scottish Ale parti-gyle. American versions tend to have higher alcohol content and slightly more hopping than traditional Scottish counterparts. Somewhat similar to an English Barley Wine.
