Beer Ratings: Raves

Perennial Prodigal 4.5
Perennial Artisan Ales St. Louis, Missouri
Inky black pour with a foamy khaki head. Semisweet nose of black malt and rich cocoa and roast and a touch of cream. Big full palate that’s warm and cocoa’d and complex. Roasty and just a little earthy with sweet chocolate and a whisper of vanilla and a lingering black malty roasty finish. Really great stout.

Breakside The Oligarch - Maple 5.0
Breakside Brewery Milwaukie, Oregon
Inky black pour with a thin foamy light khaki head. Big rich aroma full of maple and a little bourbon and woody brown sugar with a touch of coconut. Smooth robust flavor that’s deep and rich, full of luscious maple and cocoa and sweet woody bourbon and a lingering sweet touch of coconut and semisweet maple and roast. Amazing.

Miller High Life 4.8
My favorite mass produced beer, slightly sweet, non offensive, well balanced. I could drink this all day.

The Bruery American Anthem 4.6
The Bruery Placentia, California
Hazy copper with a thin ivory foamy head. Rich pastry like vanilla spice cake aroma with some vanilla cream and boozy full undertones. Bright pale malty flavor that’s loaded with vanilla cream and spice cake and cake-y sugars with a lingering cabinet spice like clove it something underneath lots of sugary Barleywine notes.

The Bruery Bakery - Coconut Macaroons 4.8
The Bruery Placentia, California
Black pour with a thin light tan head. Rich nose of chocolate and coconut and light bourbonny sweetness. Rich deep flavor that’s chocolaty and features mellow bourbon and coconut tones with a lingering bourbon warmth. Delightful.

Amalgam Composition #3 4.5
Amalgam Brewing Denver, Colorado
Hazy bright golden with a thin tight white cap. Bright complex aroma that’s funky and tart with a load of pink guava and apricot and tropical sourness. Smooth juicy sour that’s gently acidic but bigly guava’d and mellow and a little wheaty. Delightful as.

McEwan's Champion 4.6
This beer lives up to its name, and it's now one of my favourites. It's a strong ale; a perfected version of traditional ales. The aroma is malty, yeasty and has some fruity notes. The taste is rich, with a strong caramel malt taste, sweet and mildly fruity. The finish is pleasantly bitter. Very creamy and smooth, with a dense persistent foam. You can't even taste the 7.3% alcohol - compared to other, weaker beers where you can taste the alcohol. I really recommend this.

McEwan's Champion 5.0
To be drank with care. This a a top rate high strength beer that is just fantastic. To be sipped so you have to use a bit of self control if you are a normal beer drinker. I will always have a couple of bottles in. Brilliant value now in supermarkets.
