341 ml. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Antoine & Nicholas – clear orange with a small white head – sweet malts, oranges & marmalade, slight bitter touch with some pine hops & salty (nice, always been interested in a salty beer) – marmalade & oranges, toffee, pine hops, salt, sweet malts, flowers, slight funky smoke, slight citrus, slightly bitter aftertaste, medium body & carb. very interesting & lovely

14/I/2012 341ml bottle @ RBBWG 2012 - bottled: IX/2011 (2012-47) Thanks to Antoine & Nicholas for bringing the bottle!

Clear light orange beer, no head. Aroma: sweet malts, little saline, spices, some milk chocolate, bit flowery. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: smoky start, very malty, peppery, salty touch, sweet alcohol. Aftertaste: more pepper, some citrus, bitter hops, bit cheesy, bready finish.

33 cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen courtesy of Antoine. Holy smoke, another Québec gem, this beer rocks.

Bottle care of TimE. Great way to start the night. Colour is lovely clear orange/ red, oily in glass. Nose is marmalade, smokey, caramel and orange fruit. Taste is orange marmalade, with a smokiness which is light wood smoke and not meaty at all. Unusually light body for a barley wine. This is a really delicate, refined barley wine.

#1143 bottle; nose is some cake, medium alcohol, rotten fruit, feel is mediumbroad, carb is medium, taste is decent alcohol, heavy sweet plum, broad velvet lemon, cereal

Amber golden color. Smokey, apples, dried apricots, Brie on a baggut. Beautiful lightly sticky mouth, lacking hops, really malty with a touch of sourness and smokiness. Rounded. Very drinkable for 9%.

Bottle from the Perfect Pour, MD. Tastes quite aged and mellowed, with an echo of hops ensconced in old leather, and a pronounced funkiness. Maybe they weren’t kidding about the pickled herring. Odd and dissatisfying BW.

Pours a foggy auburn with a thin white top and some lacing. Aroma is smoke, light deli meats and malt. Taste is toasted malts and barely, slight sting of alcohol, raisins and fig.

This was just fantastic, with a perfect combination of gentle smokiness atop a balanced molasses and fleur de sel flavour. Smooth mouthfeel, a bit of burnt bitterness and the right amount of non-intrusive alcohol. One of my new faves.
