12floz bottle, BOD: 12.01.2017, $1.75 unit cost, mug glass. This is a dark red ale with one finger of head, a candy caramel aroma, fairly heavy body with moderate carbonation, is sugary burnt toast tasting, and has a bit of a harsh finish. It's alright, but it just doesn't appeal to me very much. DWestrick (864) - Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 10, 2018
Bottle from beer club. Rich color, traditional winter ale flavor. Quite good. FROTHINGSLOSH (8362) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 7, 2018
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red brown color with a large foamy orange brown head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was malty with molasses, cherry, fig and bread dough. The flavor was bitter and astringent with molasses, perfume, medicine, dark fruit and tobacco. Long finish with lingering medicine and perfume. Medium body. Not good. 17Beer (466) - Connecticut, USA - JAN 15, 2018
12 oz bottle. Pours a mahogony brown with a nice tight tan head. Scents of spice and malt with a lot of bread and biscuit. Tastes of sweet dried fruit and a nice leather undertone. Some spices but not overwhelming. Nice medium carbonationa and a clean mouthfeel. Warming and nicely made beer. Dogbrick (14391) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2017
Sample from growler. This beer pours a clear copper color with a medium light beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Strings of lace. Aroma of malt, hops and spice. Medium body with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and spiced fruit. The finish is sweet with a malt and spice aftertaste. Decent overall.

Aroma is spices, malts and big caramel. The flavor is cinnamon/spices, malts, big caramel and a spicy hop/slightly sour finish. milewide (2355) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - DEC 13, 2017
Fine seasonal American strong ale! Has the hops, body and color to represent of the style. fidelis83 (2551) - Clinton, Iowa, USA - DEC 11, 2017
Chestnut pour with copper highlights and a tall, kinda lumpy ruddy tan head, aroma is caramel, light toffee, light woody notes and floral and light spicy hops. Flavor is caramel, molasses, woody notes, dry hay, light astringent nutty notes, some leafy tannins and herbal and spicy hops. Medium body, a little syrupy on entry, medium carbonation and dry to the finish with a hint of lingering tannin astringency. Decent, but the tannin-ish notes are a little too strong to work. commonmac (1381) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - DEC 1, 2017
Pint glass pour at New Bohemia in Uptown with work crew. Deeper ruby/amber color with off white. Aroma is sweeter with caramel and toffee notes. Plenty of malt leading perfectly into the initial taste. First sip is heavy on the malt making me question why this is labeled as an IPA on their menu. The alcohol is presence is definitely felt. A hint of dark fruit and honestly some chocolate qualities. Hoppy bitterness is there at the end. Not one of my favorites but average. I'll keep enjoying the lack of snow. comes1rp (5) - - NOV 18, 2017 does not count
Good American Ale from Bend Oregon. Good taste, no bad after taste and very smooth.
