12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/30/2016. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red/brownish color with a 2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus peel, pepper, and pine; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus peel, pepper, and pine; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, cherry, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, citrus rind, pepper, pine, light chocolate/cocoa, herbal, floral, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop flavors; with a nice malt bitterness balance; light lingering hop astringency after the finish, but not overwhelming. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, bready/grainy/creamy, and slightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden; a mild warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good american strong ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt and moderate citrus/earthy/pine hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the lingering hop astringency. Taps barely translucent chocolate brown with a nice tan head. Aroma presents cloves, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and toasted malt. Flavor adds bread and toffee tones, as well as some hoppy bitterness, for a spice-laden delight of an ale. Firm body offers strong fizz. Pray for snow - then stay home and crack open a bottle.

For me, this winter has been heavy on American Strong Ales. There’s really nothing to complain about in that regard. Pray for Snow has a coppery brown color. Aroma is definitely more malt-forward with toasted malt and caramel. Toffee, chocolate, and coffee malt flavors with some moderate hop bitterness near the finish. Tap at the Opryland Hotel. Deep coppery brown with not much head because the way it was poured. Aroma is mocha with hints of hops. Taste is chocolate and coffee biter up front and in the middle, hoppy bitter in the finish.
