Bottle at RBWG, thanks to Matt. Pours clear amber with a light cream cap. Boozy nose, some semi-dark malts. Big sweet flavor, quite boozy, some caramel, bread. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish with harsh alcohol, rubbing alcohol. Heavy, boozy. brokensail (16689) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 28, 2013
Murky amber pour with an off-white head. Pretty hoppy aroma. Very floral and a decent amount of citrus and vanilla. Tons of rye, oak, dark fruit, and malt sweetness. Flavor is a touch boozy, but not bad. Oak, rye, and dark fruit. Citrus zest, caramel, vanilla, and a bit of booze and bitterness on the finish. djd07 (16307) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 19, 2015
Bottle thanks to Matt. Pours a clear copper with small frothy white. The aroma is rye and roast. Thin mouth with light smoke and roast, strong rye, nice booze, very good. bhensonb (15976) - Woodland, California, USA - JAN 23, 2013
Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark ruddy amber with a half finger creamy beige head. Aroma is roast malt with a fair amount of rye notes. Very full bodied. Creamy. Flavor is heat enhanced rye. Rye spice. It’s like a flavorful barley wine. Or perhaps a beer aged in fresh oak. If there were more fruit aspects it could be a fantastic quad. Super brilliant ale. Get it if you can.

Certainly an interesting beer. The rye isn’t super vibrant, im just getting standard barley flavors. THe whiskey adds sweetness. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 13, 2014
"Seemingly hoppier in the nose than it really is thanks to shit tons of rye. Really nice beer at 10+%. Complex malts and spice, some earthy hops, and an increasing rye whiskey barrel presence as the beer warms. I really liked this one." marcus (10878) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 18, 2015
Bottle shared by Kenny at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours orange amber woth a thick beige head and a fruity whiskey aroma. There is a hearty smoked malt flavor with some vanilla and lots of whiskey. Complex. douglas88 (9797) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 3, 2013
22 ounce bottle wax dipped in red wax. Pours a mostly clear ruby color with a medium white head. A big sweet nose of fruit, vanilla and whiskey. The flavor is initially some tobacco, leather, big fruit, strawberries, later big rye whiskey, earthy, even smoky at times. Huge vanilla. Very good. The barrel addition is just perfect. Mellow and yet big flavors. solidfunk (9734) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - AUG 18, 2014
Red pour, not much head. Booze, caramel and some citrus. Booze a little too prominent. Ok head and lacing. Rye doesn’t help with big booze here. Bottle thanks to nimbleprop.
