Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours dark ruddy amber with a half finger creamy beige head. Aroma is roast malt with a fair amount of rye notes. Very full bodied. Creamy. Flavor is heat enhanced rye. Rye spice. It’s like a flavorful barley wine. Or perhaps a beer aged in fresh oak. If there were more fruit aspects it could be a fantastic quad. Super brilliant ale. Get it if you can. slowrunner77 (12998) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 13, 2014
"Seemingly hoppier in the nose than it really is thanks to shit tons of rye. Really nice beer at 10+%. Complex malts and spice, some earthy hops, and an increasing rye whiskey barrel presence as the beer warms. I really liked this one." Alphadelic (2249) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 2, 2012
Strong rye all over this it could basically be a whiskey if it had more acetone burn. Some fruit mellows it out also. Super thick, like a malted milkshake, I really adore that puffy, suffocating texture. Vanilla and heaps of nutty, grainy bourbon. So smooth and you can’t detect that booze except deep and warm in the stomach. jgb9348 (6516) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - SEP 1, 2013
Nice deep copper coloured body with a light brown glow, some hints of deep amber and a tint of ruby, all with a perfect, three centimetre tall tan head - this one is very nice looking. Aroma of alcohol, oak, rye, tobacco, bright hops and plenty of sugars. Full-bodied; Deep, super pungent alcohol and rye flavours with a lot of caramel, banana, clove, yeast and pit fruit flavours - very cloying on the finish and almost a meal in itself. Aftertaste shows a nice hoppy flavour with a lot of rye, somehow even more alcohol and a deep, syrupy, resinous, oaky and very dry rye and vanilla finish. Overall, a very pungent and super strong beer with some nice complexities and a solid balance between sweet, malt, oak and alcohol. I wish this was just in a small format bottle - the density and gravity of this beer is just too much to handle in 65 cL! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$12.47 sampled at home in Washington on 01-September-2013. marcus (10752) - Sacramento, California, USA - AUG 18, 2015

This beer pour incredibly thick. The nose had a very strong whiskey flavor, and the beer had a great chewy sweet flavor. douglas88 (9693) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 3, 2013
22 ounce bottle wax dipped in red wax. Pours a mostly clear ruby color with a medium white head. A big sweet nose of fruit, vanilla and whiskey. The flavor is initially some tobacco, leather, big fruit, strawberries, later big rye whiskey, earthy, even smoky at times. Huge vanilla. Very good. The barrel addition is just perfect. Mellow and yet big flavors. riversideAK (6265) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - JAN 13, 2013
Wax dipped rare beer. Fuck yeah! Nose of strong rye malt, caramel notes, nice sweetness, vanilla, wood, spicy rye whiskey, alcohol. Pours dark amber, thin white ring of foam around the edges. Flavors of rye whiskey up front, rye malts spicy sweet grain notes toasted brown bread, earthy hop notes, wood, a little vanilla. Thick body, medium carbonation. A little alcohol presence. Nice interesting beer. boFNjackson (4230) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 27, 2013
Bottle... Poured dark ruby/amber with an easy forming beige-ish head. I heard this was quite hot when it was initially released so I sat on it for six months. Tasting great now. Good wood and barrel notes with a lot of the rye spice still shining. Earthy, and bready, dark fruit esters, with some vanilla and cookie dough notes. Whiskey notes but balanced and not too boozy.
