0,1l sample from tap at the brewpub. orange quite hazy color, medium big off-white head. smells milky, spices, lightly vegetables, smells unclean. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. strong taste of spices and vegetables again, some citric notes. seems to be something wrong with this one. Will rerate.

Pours a hazy dark amber color, topped with average off-white head. Pleasant citrusy aroma. Taste starts sweet with immediate and fairly strong hoppy bitterness. Some spices also in there. Very nice.

Draught at the brewpub.
Hazy amber appearance with a superb, stable off-white head. Looks like a statue for the beerfoam...Citrussy, grapefruit hop aroma leads the character in the nose with a fine caramel background. Smooth mouthfeel with malt and caramel, honey, cinnamon and vanilla. And of course the powerful but well balanced hoppy flavor with a resiny-citrussy character. Dry, hoppy.fruity aftertaste with grapes and citrusses. Nice!

Nickls (2451) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - MAY 10, 2010
(Old BA rate - tap) Poured with a two-finger thick slightly egg shell colored head...pretty frothy and left chunky lacing throughout the sample. Some bready/sweet maltiness followed by very prominant citric and cedary hop aromas. Powerfully bitter, but balance well. Great hop bitterness comes over the palate first and it is a bit earthy, citruisy, and piney at different points. Very nice complexity for the style. Good malt balance, but doesnt come close to rivaling the hops. Medium MF, muted carbonation and more than coats the palate. Pretty high drinkability, nice flavors along with the high hop factor. A little less aggressive than its US namesake. Overall, pretty fantastic brew and slightly more complex that Victorys Hopdevil, though less assertive.

One of the first IPAs I have tried, and was lucky enough to get it fresh from the tap in Vienna, Austria. Hazy orange, white head. Huge grapefruit aroma, with pine hops, as well. Bitter and refreshing, delicious with pine, citrus and honey notes.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2014 Draught at the brewpub. Orange, hazy body with medium, creamy, white head, that leaves some lacing. Aroma is one of the most unique I have experienced in an IPA so far, with dominant flowers, also grass, grapefruit, orange and lots of malt notes. Taste is with about the same aromas, starting sweet and citric, with a strong, dry, grapefruit like bitterness kicking in pretty soon. Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with lively carbonation and it finishes bitter, dry with grapefruit and grass notes. Although Im a fan of more fruity IPAs, this is just an outstanding brew and a very unique IPA, that gives more room for flowery, dry and malty notes. Brilliant!
