Seguin Moreau produces finest Wood Casks. Our Casks started at Chateau Lafite Rothschild, went to Sassicaia in Tuscany & then to Glenmarangie Whiskey Distillers Scotland.
Yes, an Imperial IPA, matured in WOODEN CASKS. 1st they were used as Barriques in Posh Vinyards in France, then Posh Vinyard in Italy, then the same Casks matured Whiskey in Scotland. Now they matured a Craft Brew in Vienna.
Malts: Belgian Pale Ale, Crystal, Cara Aroma Hops: Slovenian Magnum (its a hop variety from Slovenia, not a private eye on Hawaii. With a maginificent mustache), Savinjski (Whole Leaf)

On tap at the brewpub in Vienna. Pours a translucent, garnet amber with some beige head. Nose of soap, malt, caramel, some wood. Flavor is sweet, chewy, bitter, woody, astringent, very herbal. Full, astringent finish. Weird.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy orange-brown coloured with a medium sized lasting white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits, oak, vanilla and hops. Fruity flavour of hops, oak and licorice with notes of alcohol, vanilla and grapefruits. Dry hoppy finish.

Tap at 1516 brewing company, wien. Almost black color, hint of red. Smooth light brown head. Sweet hoppy aroma, wood, berries. Sweet malty taste, wooden casks, berries, hops, little hint of alcohol.

15/04 On tap at the brewpub. It poured hazy copper brown body with medium ivory head. Nice hoppy aroma, grapefruit, wood and lot of dust. Pretty weak though. Flavor was nicely bitter, peaty in whisky way, adding to alcohol feel although objectively well hidden in grapefruit and spicy bitterness. Medium bodied with very long, bitter hop finish, but also some caramel sweetness remains the last. Might be a bit too much burned in wood, but it’s really a good beer.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy brown with some tan head and lace. Notes of vanilla, oak, bourbon, brown sugar, figs, plums. Hard to tell the pass beer is an IPA. Sweet and boozy with mild hop bitterness.

At the Brewpub. Cloudy amber beer, big cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and slightly creamy. Mild fine carbonation. Creamy malt, mild caramel and a touch of aniseed spice. Trace of unsweet bubblegum. A vague tang of whisky, pretty subtle. Decent bitter pine hops on the back end followed by light but bitter wood. Smooth finish with reasonable bitter linger and a fruity tang. Interesting beer!

draught at the brewpub. Deep brown colour, creamy beige head. Lovely hop aroma, resiny with hints of citrus fruit and wood. Full-bodied, bitter-sweet overall character with hints of warming alcohol. Smooth palate. Pleasantly sweet malty base with loads of aromatic hops that add a lot of resiny and citrusy flavours. Delicious!

100ml sample from keg at the brewpub
Quite boozy, pithy nose with some vanilla and bourbon. Quite heavy mouthfeel and hot to begin with but teh palate adjusts and there are enough hops to counteract the booze. I’d have liked slightly elss of teh woody butterscotch but I can’t have everything my way. V dark amber-brown with fluffy beige head. A sipper.

Tap at 1516. It pours murky deep brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, wood, light smoke, whisky, berry, raisin, jaminess, vinous aspect, caramel and red grape skin. The taste is wood, earth, assertive bitterness, resinous, berry, light jam, raisin, whisky, warming alcohol, light spice, baking cocoa and medicinal notes with a long bitter finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Good depth of flavour. A tasty and unique brew. Surprisingly good.

This is a delicious beer, but it could almost be called a Black IPA, definitely not your standard pale hop bomb. Dark brown colour with a creamy off-white head. Big fruity aromas blend in well with hints of coffee. Sweet citrus flavour leading to a dry, lingering finish. The barrel aging adds a wonderfully rich mouthfeel. This one’s a real winner in my book.
