A collaboration beer we brewed with Louisville, KY’s Against The Grain Brewery. ’KILLWITTE’ is a smoked witbier with Mosaic and a touch of Warrior. "Conceived in the shadow of a forgotten city by a beacon of light on 18th Street in the 46403. Contrived in collaboration by the kindred spirits from the 40202... Killewitte is a collision of flavors shrouded in smoke. Brewed with a blend of Mosaic & Amarillo hops; and a dose of orange wood & coriander smoked malt from Against The Grain Brewery... Bright, citrus hopped, and soft spicy flavors cut through a haze of delicate smoke like a kilowatt bulb on a dark street lamp in Gary. As light and effervescent as any perfect summer beer, KilleWitte was designed to assault your taste buds like a college age anarchist on a op ed writing rampage.....wait, what did you think this was about? Drink up, its witbier."

Poured medium golden with an off white head. Aroma of wheat and lightly rauched malt. Light body, flavour is smooth citrus, lemon and grapefruit, mild smoke, lightly bitter finish.

Pours golden with a good head and lots of lacing on the glass.

The aroma is a whole lot of wheat bread, some orange and some lavender. It’s got a little sort of smoke... it’s weird... but it’s not bad.

The flavor is a little bit soapy & floral with some smoke, some spiciness and some orange... ugh, weird.

not so much my thing, i guess.

Not a bad witbier. Interesting that it is smoked but honestly it doesn’t really come through in the flavor, only the smell. The smell is typical witbier with a hint of smokiness/peat. Tastes like a normal witbier with just the lightest touch of smoke. Light body with a sweet finish. Interesting beer but it could’ve been better.

Tap. Pours a transparent golden with a thin ring of off white head. Aroma and taste of smokiness and some bitterness with some pine.

Tap. Pours hazy pale amber, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma is nicely smoky, orange, lemon, wheat. Flavor is light sweet, little bitterness, lots if smoke, a bit meaty, citrus, a light tropical note. Light body. Quite interesting. Points for originality.

Fad, Søernes ølbar. Lys, uklar, tåget, boblende hvid skumkrone. Bacon-næse. Let. Græs, hø, tropisk frugt. Lækker hoppy finish. Virkelig go session-øl.

Draught at Ørsted Ølbar. Hazy golden colored with a small white head. Fruity aroma of celery, smoke and coriander. Fruity flavor of celery and coriander with notes of smoke and citrus. Spicy finish. Unpleasant combination.

Of all the beers on draft this one was the most disappointing. That established, it is still a respectable wit beer for longer sessions. Perhaps it was the fact that this was my last sample but I was not terribly disappointed to bypass this a week later at the Great Taste of the Midwest. Your mileage may vary though and there is little risk in a four ounce sample.

Aroma / Appearance - The bronze polished base shines like copper pennies. A fluid texture retains wheat and a rubbery meaty texture. This is where the problems arise. Whatever it is meant to be it feels off the mark.

Flavor / Palate - Wheat and malt rise from the glass. The next flavor is a bit shocking however. The taste of brisket makes me wonder what went into this recipe. Maybe there was something in the tap line. Whatever the reason at some point I will have to try this again. I’m sure that it has to be better than my initial impressions.

Bomber, love the aroma of mild citrus and spice, cloudy yellow with good head. Has a strong taste of fruit and malt backbone. This is a great Belgian white!
