3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2014 Rerate: I like this so much better this time... granted the bottle is older and the abrasive oniony and dank hop character has faded leaving behind a nice drinkable juicy IPA. Original rating 6/4/5/2/10 2.7 Bottle and served in snifter: Pours a clean golden hue with a nicely frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of moderate dank and cat piss, pine and resin, lemons and pink grapefruit, biscuity malt and green tea. The taste is lightly fruity and twangy with a fair amount of high alpha dankness and oniony overtones. The base malt is only a background player... everything was all good till the finish which had a heavy tea-baggy astringent character along with some metallic notes as well. Sort of took the shine off the penny. It is also quite one note and lacks much depth of palate. Some hop heads will dig this, I for one was done with it after one glass.
Sample from draft at mikkeller friends, Poured a hazy deep golden to orange colour with a white head. Nose of soft caramel malts, tropical fruits, grapefruits, lemon zest, citrus, light pine, and a strong bitter hop notice. Taste is sweet fruits, light resinous, and a big hop bitter aftertaste. Lovely fruited ipa MrChopin (4304) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 11, 2016

hazy gold, puffy white head, dense and well-lacing. Right amount of grapefruit and sugar in nose, solid balance. Front palate more sugary, orange comparisons with heavy carbonation, mid palate soapy with light resin, more C-zest. Finishes too sweet, heavy carbonation leaves foamy feel.
22oz bottle pours a mostly hazy orange with some frothy, white head. Nose has candy and mango and tropical fruit. Flavor is even better, sweet and fruity, mango, a little bubblegum, some pineapple. Mild yeast too. Dry finish. GenDV138 (7467) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2016
