16oz can pours a muddy, opaque black with some foamy, brown head that faded fast. Nose has burnt toast, heavy molasses, black pepper, some tar, some cinnamon. Flavor is sweet with molasses and licorice and caramel, a little cinnamon, some condensed cola, some soy/umami notes. Full bodied, sweet, sticky finish. JorisPPattyn (10062) - BELGIUM - FEB 16, 2017
No head, limpid near-black beer; end of bottle solid yeast. Chocolate, cacao, sweet liqueur. Ink, chocolate, wood, wry - especially in the finish and aftertaste. Faraway sweetness, chocolate-y. Some Asian herb, and incense, once warmed up, making it better indeed. Lean MF, bit empty despite some viscosity. Compared to the Vertical Series offshoots, not very interesting, bit poor. Thanks for sharing, guys! Dorkenstein (564) - - JAN 29, 2017
Vanilla and dark chocolate aromas, some lactose and roasted malts as well. Taste is dark chocolate syrup, tangy lactose, and vanilla. Charred roasted malts and bitter hops in the finish. markducommun (1210) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 21, 2016
Deep dark brown, extremely opaque, darker tan head, minimal. Lively sweet chocolate, some fruity esters. A bit of tobacco and earth. Pleasantly bitter initially fading into a well balanced sweetness. Lingering bitterness again through the long finish. Chewy, heavier body, some oil. Alcohol is fairly muted. Not much carbonation. Quite tasty. jandd1983 (4544) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - NOV 6, 2016
Bottle, thanks Greg. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee, cocoa, malts and some roast. The taste was similar to the aroma with more chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla and roast. Really good.

It pours super dark with a small brown head. The aroma has dark roast, lactose, anise and vanilla. It has a full body with light carbonation. The taste has the aroma notes and has almost a smooth char. Really nice. Big thanks to gregwilsonstl for sharing this one. Strykzone (7555) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2016
Sampled at Gregwilsonstl’s tasting. Pours like ink. Black. Just a little tan ring. This is good. Complex and big. Roast, coconut, earth, citrus and grain. Some cream gives a rich feel as well as flavor. This is good. gregwilsonstl (2613) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 5, 2016
Very milky. Sweet. Black. Vanilla. Motor Oil. Tasted at my "Variants 2.0" bottle share. Thx for the trade HankDaStank. Side by side with Vanilla, Coconut, and Orange. I like this one best. drfabulous (8467) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - JUL 2, 2016
22 ounce bottle from the place in West Lafyette. Creamy and chocolate. Cocoa. Some lactose. Nice. DandyWolfFloyd (1212) - Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2016
Aroma - oat, alcohol, chocolate, roast, and raisin.
Appearance - body is black, the head is tan and around 3/4" and holds tight. Alcohol cloying that drapes suds.
Taste - has a rich mix of roast, chocolate, molasses, caramel, and oat. There are some complex flavors that come across as prune and other dark fruit.
Palate - full body, slick feel, average carbonation, slightly astringent finish.
