Draught at Mrs Parmas, Melbourne. On July 25, 2013.Maris (1514) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - FEB 1, 2013
Clear brown color, tan head. Malty, sweet, hoppy taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Fruity aftertaste. Sweet, fruity, hoppy scent.
From a 330ml bottle on 1/2/2013. Pours a clear amber with a small head. the aroma is very curious for an amber ale - quite floral and fruity, with just a touch of toasty malt. The flavour is also curiously sweet and fruity, with lots of toffee malt in the background. The bitterness is subdued but works well in combination. A unusual amber which is very enjoyable. Pours a lovely dark amber with a thin white head that fades quickly.
Nose is lovely. Pretty hop forward, with some sweet mandarin citrus that I think is Centennial but I’m not sure. There’s also a bit of sweet caramel there too which is nice.
Hop character doesn’t come through so much on the taste. Taste is pretty sweet, with a bit of citrus hop bitterness on the attack, some really gorgeous toffee notes on the mid palate which go really nicely with the sort of mandarin flavour I get and then a nice, slightly bitter finish with a really tiny bit of smoke which is great.
I didn’t really believe the hype, but this lives up to it. This is a really excellent beer, I’m just sorry I didn’t try it fresher.
Very nice summer beer. A hoppy amber ale with strong citrus and toffee flavours. Good carbonation. Pours a deep amber with a slightly tan head. A very nice beer Muggus69 (2494) - Yarram, Vic, AUSTRALIA - JUN 2, 2015
330mL bottle from Slowbeer
Very nice looking beer - deep amber, holds a dense tan head.
Excellent nose; lots of resiny, piney, citrus hop, well counter-balanced with an equal measure of toasty, roasty, nutty, toffeed, lightly chocolatey malt.
Full bodied, smooth, nice chewy texture, subdued carbonation.
Delivers plenty of biscuity, chocolatey, toasty malts, with lashings of spicy, piney, citrusy hops. Bitterness is big but in great harmony.
Couldn’t ask for more in an American Amber! Davros (3183) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 6, 2011
Pours deep ruby tinged copper with a lasting head.
Nose shows a rich mix of hops and malt. Big piney, resinous, earthy and minty notes from the hops, while the malt adds prominent caramel, nutty and toasty characters. Very nice!
Very similar hop profile as flavours, but in the way of malt only the nutty characters continue to stand out. Really needs more caramel to flesh it out.
Body feels a little watery. ShaneJ (896) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 20, 2014
Bottle from Plonk (Jan 2014). Dark reddish-amber, small tan head, rich toffee/caramel, citrus/grapefruit hops, thick, syrupy texture, long sweet finish. Nice. RuNpali (85) - FINLAND - JUL 31, 2015
On tap @ Taps KL. Dark amber color with little white head. Aroma has malty sweetness. Taste is sweet, too, and has berries. Palate is a bit flat. Still a good beer.
