Pours with a dark brown body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s bitter yet slightly sweet and spicy with a light roast. Medium to full bodied and smooth.
Pours a near black with a healthy, dense tan head which lingers.....aroma of coffee, dried fruits, chocolate......taste is coffee, booze, dark chocolate, slight earthy fruit taste, finishing with an easy bitter chocolate. Quite nice. Maverick34 (3238) - New York, USA - JUL 10, 2017
Pours a thick black with white beige head from can. Smells if malts. Small hints of grain and spice. Pretty good hershiser2 (3205) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - JUN 30, 2017
$3.00 can from Beer Run. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, smoked peat, fig, oak, coffee, a little earth. Flavor is dark chocolate, dried fig, coffee beans, sweet caramel. Slick, lightly spicy on the back end. This is good (and unexpected as I simply saw a can I didn’t recognize and picked it up). oobawa (1394) - Tennessee, USA - JUN 12, 2017
Pours a dark hazed brown with ample beige lacing. Nose is chocolate and vanilla and coffee, maybe a little pine and oak. Taste starts with sweet chocolate, then dries out with a swipe of java. Goes sweet again with a deep vein of fig and black cherry, then finishes dry and spicy, the peppercorns adding a mild kick. Good texture, if a little boozy. Solid. 12oz can from Beer Bazaar in Hainesville. Very dark brown pour with ruby tints. Beige head leaving streaky lacing. Aroma has big caramel, dark chocolate, herbs and spices. Taste is sweet malts, cocoa, herbs and spices. Fairly rich. More than medium bodied. Some alcohol. The blend is decent but not better - and that is an issue in this one. Whatever is blended could be better.13.6

Can pouring a milky brown with tan lace. Porter-grade smell of coffee, licorice, malt, oak and barley. For the ABV, it’s very smooth and tasty without too much heat from the alcohol, but from the spice and pepper it is noticeable. A slight hop bite lingers. Finishes warming and roasted. argeru (94) - Hillsboro, Oregon, USA - MAR 14, 2017
4pk of Cans. Pours near black ruby brown, smell roasted malt, dark grains, burning wood, cinnamon, chocolate. Big pleasant taste and feeling, no spice/alcohol kick, well-balanced. Sweet and Liquor-y, I love it. TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 14, 2017
Brewed by 21st Amendment. From a can: pours a dark reddish brown color with tan colored head. Spices, roasted malt, and lots of earth tones on the nose; follows onto the palate. Can from my brother. Wow! How’s that for a description. Inky black pour, soft ring of head. Malty, roasty, halfway between a CDA and a stout. Bitter and welcoming, smooth and slick.Tasty, doesn’t fit neatly in any other category, but great nonetheless.
