translucent brown with thin white head. medium body with moderately high carbonation.

aroma: rich chocolate roast, crystal malt, carob, licorice, piney fruity hops.

taste: sour upfront, nice hoppy middle, ashy burnt vegetable in swallow, hop bitterness in finish..

smells great, tasted not so great. lacks hop aroma and flavor, not that it’s not there, but that it’s muddled in with the roasted character and gets lost.

12 oz can, poured into a pint glass. Dark reddish brown, with a nice tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malts, pine, coffee, light licorice, black currants, grapefruit / citrus. Some citrus comes through in the taste. Well balanced black IPA. Would recommend to friends.

Dacrza (994) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JUN 3, 2016
DATE: June 3, 2016... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... OCCASION: Relaxing after a nice coach pitch win....pours a powerful three-finger brown head that is creamy, rocky, foamlike lacing... the black body akin to cola... aroma has the strength of punchy citrus--lemon, watermelon--with the malt-forward spiciness, especially pepper and toasted bread.... the palate is warming, slightly crunchy, dry at the finish, and nicely textured for a beer at 6.8% ABV... medium-bodied and, as the write-up suggests, quite mellow.... the flavor is malty, spicy and hoppy in balance... enough citrus exists to evoke an IPA, while the low end bakes nicely in the taste buds... another quality offering from 21st Amendment, and a beer that dangerously entices the drinker to session...

Can. Dark reddish brown. Hoppy aroma. Floral, grassy, minty. Taste is sticky date, cherry and fig, cola, baking bread. Nice bitterness. Feels more of a hoppy brown than black IPA but good stuff regardless.

Can from Thirsty, River Valley Road, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is light roasty mat, light grass, resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth, light citrus, grassy hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

L: Looks a lot like coffee. Even the head has a creamy, bone-like tone to it. S: Chocolate orange T: Significantly more hop-forward than roasty. The Centennial hops are showcased well, bringing a bright tangerine quality to the flavor profile. The supporting dark malts are pleasantly mild and add some depth to the finish with notes of chocolate brownie and black tea. F: Velvety carbonation and resinous hop oils coat every inch of the palate, letting the hops and following roasted malts cling long after the last sip. O: On the drinkable side of black IPAs, but not sacrificing any complexity. Pair with chocolate ice cream, crab rangoon, sweet potato fries.

Can - big beige foamy head, very dark brown almost black color, big piney hop aroma and flavor, solid malt backbone but not roasty at all (good for this style), resiny finish, very good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
