UPDATED: JUL 14, 2006 This IPA pours an orange gold color from a 12oz can. Medium sized white foamy head. Good lacing. Aroma is bold, lots of piney, citrusy and floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. First off, I could not resist sipping some of this out of the can as soon as the top was popped. Is this the correct terminology? The aroma is very evident and the taste is nice straight from the can. The flavor mellows a little and the malt character is more pronounced when poured into a glass. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are crisp, floral, grapefruity and piney. Medium to high bitterness IPA. Nicely balanced, but still a big bold hop flavored IPA. The can version seems to be a little more hoppy and intense flavored than the on tap versions I have had before. Nice beer. More please. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. . jazz88 (2684) - San Francisco, California, USA - MAR 9, 2003

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2011 Rating #1 Tap (8 3 8 4 17). Golden color. Great fresh aromatic hops in the nose like fresh cut grass. A strong hop flavor, just the way I like it. Rating #2 Can (6 3 6 3 15). A golden color with a white head. A cereal and malty aroma with more pronounced hop profile in the aftertaste than in the aroma or flavor. JoeM500 (1909) - Crown Point, Indiana, USA - MAR 6, 2003
"Perfumy" is the appropriate description of the nose. Perfume made of fresh hops!!! Orange peel, fresh cut weeds and grass. Rich and thick... you can almost chew it. Wonderful caramel/nutty malts trying hard to balance the superb hoppiness. 75 IBUs. At RAF '03 this was listed as 7% from the cask. jaymobrown (1845) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 2, 2003
Enjoyable aroma. Highly nutty IPA with a big bitterness and hop nose. The hoppiness follows through in the flavor with some floral, perfume tones. Long finish. OldGrowth (3665) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - FEB 25, 2003

Very powerful big aroma, clean palate, big bitter IPA just like I like them and even a bit more dry. Saying this is one of the best IPAs in the Bay Area may not seem like such a big statement but if that means it's up against Anchor, Big Daddy, Anderson Valley, El Toro, Russian River, Bear Republic, and on and on then it certainly is. mwsf (361) - San Francisco, California, USA - OCT 25, 2002
Copper color. Medium head. Very floral hop aroma. Quite bitter. Grassy hop flavor. Some malt. Slight caramel flavor. Medium body. Tons of hops. Definitely a West Coast IPA. Tasty. pivo (2689) - GERMANY - JUN 25, 2002
All hops - from the nose to the flavor and through the finish (and even in the repeat!). Good fresh hop resolution that is typical west coast. I really enjoy these kinds of brews and miss them in Germany. DamnGoodBeer99 (13) - Shingle Springs, California, USA - MAR 3, 2002
I just had this beere (and all there others) two weeks ago and still remember how astonshied I was that it was GOOD. Unfortunately, I heard some bad reviews of the beers but I can gaurantee you they were NOT accurate. This is a fun place with great beers (most) and food.
My favorite was there Red (a red version of the IPA?) but the Ipa was excellent and of course the hoppiness was most appreciated! Worth the visit. Scoobydoo99 (4) - USA - JAN 24, 2002 does not count
