COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ale brewed with fennel seed, chia seed, and pink peppercorns - with mission figs added. In the 1700s and 1800s, missionaries and Native Americans grew a variety of crops along the El Camino Real. Apart from the famous mission grapes, mission figs, barley, and olives, fennel and chia were also grown... (The brewers) tried to recapture some of the historic flavors of the old Camino Real by brewing this beer...

A damn fine beer, I would drink it until my liver gave way. Nothing offensive at all, just beer bliss. Would get again fo sho. much like the saison du buff i thought it sounded disgusting and was proved completely wrong. the flavor combination was weird, out of style, shouldnt have worked, but ended up making an amazingly tasty beer.

12/26/2016 -- from notes: 12oz can, from Dutch's. 21st Amendment version. Shared with Joe M. Fig seems evident in the nose, as well as some of that earthy spice. Flavor has a lot of earthy herbal hop, moderate to bigger bitter taste, moderate-plus sweet, mild bite in the finish. Very dark brown color, thin tan kind of bubbly head, good ropes and bits of lace. Bigger body, mild slick. Full feel. Kind of creamy. Soft carbonation. Unique, interesting stuff, fun to try once.

Pretty, roasty, & boozy! Pours black w/ a big mocha head & scattered lacing. The aroma is roasted malt w/ a hint of chocolate. The taste is roasted coffee, a slight hint of chocolate, a touch of hop bitterness, & booze. Pretty complex & fairly easy on the palate. Delightful!

Can. Black with a mocha colored head. Aroma has burnt coffee, anise, chocolate all blended in a boozy complex mixture. The flavor follows the aroma and adds a roast malt bitterness that balances what would be a cloying mess otherwise.

12 oz can at Soulshine Farm Music Festival. This strong ale has an exceptionally complex and rich flavor. Not harmonious however, with some sense of clashing flavors. Mild-moderate bitterness. Full body with near medium carbonation.

Pours a near black with a healthy, dense tan head which lingers.....aroma of coffee, dried fruits, chocolate......taste is coffee, booze, dark chocolate, slight earthy fruit taste, finishing with an easy bitter chocolate. Quite nice.

Pours a thick black with white beige head from can. Smells if malts. Small hints of grain and spice. Pretty good

$3.00 can from Beer Run. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, smoked peat, fig, oak, coffee, a little earth. Flavor is dark chocolate, dried fig, coffee beans, sweet caramel. Slick, lightly spicy on the back end. This is good (and unexpected as I simply saw a can I didn’t recognize and picked it up).

oobawa (1925) - Tennessee, USA - JUN 12, 2017
Pours a dark hazed brown with ample beige lacing. Nose is chocolate and vanilla and coffee, maybe a little pine and oak. Taste starts with sweet chocolate, then dries out with a swipe of java. Goes sweet again with a deep vein of fig and black cherry, then finishes dry and spicy, the peppercorns adding a mild kick. Good texture, if a little boozy. Solid. (Rated on BA 9/4/11)
