On tap at the brewery. This was advertised as an oaked Belgian stout. It pours dark brown with a khaki head. The aroma is strong roasted malt with raisins, dates, black licorice, a touch of molasses and oak. The flavor is oaky, roasted with coffee, dates, light peppery yeast and a good fruity, oaky finish. I was really impressed with this one. Sledutah (7976) - Utah, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Cask at 21A phaleslu (10895) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 6, 2012
Appearance: Black with a small tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, milk chocolate and oak
Taste: Roasted malts, chocolate, woody and vanilla
OK, but not a fan of this beer, nothing meshed. I had a pint of the cask and a sample on tap, both were similar.
Draft at the brewpub. Pours a midnight black color with two fingers of frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, earth, dark fruity esters, dust, wood, and nuts. Flavor of toasted malts, chocolate, earth, nuts, coffee, and some burnt wood. Medium-full bodied, with medium carbonation and a rich mouthfeel that finishes roasty and bitter. Good "Belgian Imperial Stout," as it says on the menu. bb (9790) - Alamo, California, USA - NOV 6, 2012
Draft. Black beer with a dark tan head. Chocolate and yeast aroma. Chooclate and light roast flavor with yeast and light earthiness. Medium-plus bodied. Coffe and chocolate linger with light roast, light earth, and light oak dryness.
