The name is a tribute to the hop shortage a few years ago. An imperial IPA aged on oak spirals using Columbus, Centennial and cascades as the bittering hops and dry hopping with Simcoe, Ahtanum, Amarillo, and Cascades.

The best part of this beer is the aroma. When you open the can and take a whiff, it promises something great. Then you drink it and it sucks. In an over-saturated genre of beer, this is one of the offenders. I am confident that the aging of this beer ruins a lot of what makes hoppy beers good. Do you like beers like Hopslam or Green Flash West Coast IPA? Beers that have BRIGHT hop flavors? If so you will most likely think this is total ass. I WANTED to like the packaging. Im into this whole fancy beer in cans thing. But then I started reading the little words printed all over the can. They are stupid. A total waste of time. Dont even bother. Its NOT funny, or cute, or anything other than asinine. Also, I resent the caricatured faces drawn on the can. Are those the guys who make the beer or something? Why is it important to them that their faces are on the beer? Fucking egoists. I want my money back. Bummertown.

12 oz can a little past BB date stamped on bottom but stored cold. Pours with a very hazy, light amber body topped by a large, frothy white head that has very good retention and leaves ample sudsy lacing. Fruity aroma with hints of oranges, pineapple and soft ripe fruits. Flavor: fruity hops dominate. Hints of oranges, pineapple, vanilla, oak and caramel. Nice moderately bitter finish with plenty of hops. Mouthfeel: medium body with medium carbonation and a mild bite from the ample alcohol and hops. Overall: an excellent, easy drinking DIPA.

Can from Parker Pie, 9.7%, served in an IPA glass it gives off an intensely jammy waft of stone fruits. Getting in for a closer whiff I get some boozy sharp heat, lots of malt caramel sweetness and hints of pine. Full bodied and quite a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The taste is sharp peppery pine, jammy sweet stone fruit and a semi-dry herbal finish with some warmth radiating outwards from your stomach. Quite a good double IPA though I didnt get anything from the oak spirals.

Aromas are very subtle but considering little amount of hops is used wasnt too bad. Cloudy copper with white head. Amazing taste. Cotton candy, orange, bitter peel. Finished with a good alcohol bite. Fine example of what you can do with limited resources. Very well balanced and crafted. Cheers.

On tap at Gnarly Barley. Sweet pineapple and strawberry and overripe orange aroma with apricot notes. Slightly hazy copper under a lacy white, thin sheet. Flavour is salty with hops that are a blend of old and new world; apricot, pineapple, pine, strawberry, grapefruit. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth and a little warming.
