2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Poured a clear, golden from a 12-oz. can into a Duvel tulip. Smallish 1-finger head with a moderate pour. Head was white and settled to a coating which lasted throughout. Lacing was minimal. Nose was some pine and citrus notes, particularly grapefruit, pineapple, and lemon-lime.
Taste: Hop presence but this was a malty IPA. Sweet caramel malts predominated with hints of fruit and oak. There was some alcohol warming/burn which I felt was a little out of control. Bitterness (especially at the end) was there, but moderate. Texture was medium, sticky, slick and with healthy carbonation. Overall, this was a decent offering but not one I would go out of my way to have again.
Oh my. Lovely East-meets-West IPA, big and juicy but with a brutal bitter streak on the back end and a healthy warming glow on the finish. Starts with a swath of grapefruit and orange, then grows a grainy, caramel-tinged malt backbone before developing lovely streaks of pine, pepper, pencil shavings, flowers, and permanent citric undercurrent. Bitterness is pronounced but manageable, while the oak adds a subtle woodsy vein deep into the fade. Pours a slightly hazed gold with a frothy white head and layers upon layers of lace. Nose mixes Simcoe dankness and Cascade pine with a little black pepper. Perfect texture, creamy and slick with the slightest tinge of warmth to remind you of the pint's lofty stature. Delicious. Can (rating backlog). Pours golden/yellow, opaque, big white head. Nose is peach, lemon, pine, it has a nose of toilet cleaner and not in a good way. Taste resin, pine, pineapple, slight honey, hay. tfontana (1123) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 31, 2017
Can pour into nonic pint glass from Lucia’s Bodega. Appearance is cloudy light brown-orange with yellow at the edges of the glass, minimal sparkle, finger-width creamy off-white head with poor retention and nice sudsy lacing. Aroma is strong pineapple, tropical fruits and citrus with milder resin over malty backbone. Taste is also strong pineapple/tropical fruit with light citrus, late mild resin bitterness and malts. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish. Overall, lots of fruity hop juiciness along with other features for balance and interest. 12 oz can a little past BB date stamped on bottom but stored cold.
Pours with a very hazy, light amber body topped by a large, frothy white head that has very good retention and leaves ample sudsy lacing.
Fruity aroma with hints of oranges, pineapple and soft ripe fruits.
Flavor: fruity hops dominate. Hints of oranges, pineapple, vanilla, oak and caramel. Nice moderately bitter finish with plenty of hops.
Mouthfeel: medium body with medium carbonation and a mild bite from the ample alcohol and hops.
Overall: an excellent, easy drinking DIPA. scotchzombie (611) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 30, 2016

Can from Parker Pie, 9.7%, served in an IPA glass it gives off an intensely jammy waft of stone fruits. Getting in for a closer whiff I get some boozy sharp heat, lots of malt caramel sweetness and hints of pine.
Full bodied and quite a lusciously smooth mouthfeel. The taste is sharp peppery pine, jammy sweet stone fruit and a semi-dry herbal finish with some warmth radiating outwards from your stomach. Quite a good double IPA though I didn’t get anything from the oak spirals.
