COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep, mahogany color, rich malt candied, rock sugar flavors with sweet burnt currant and fig aromas. Its strong alcohol content is tempered by a clean bitterness and complex flavors. This Barley Wine is named for Cornelius de Boom, the San Francisco Belgian Consulate General (1850 to 1851) and surprisingly the name of the alley along-side the 21st Amendment on 2nd Street.

Tap from dirty franks. Pour red amber with med off white head. Nose is fruit and bubblegum. Med body and med carbonation. Slight off putting weird sweetness in there. Decent but not great barleywine. ---Rated via my mouth

8 oz can from 4 pack. Served in a snifter. Very very thin head. Very little lacing. Beer is a dark honey color. Arom is some floral hops and honey. Taste os medium bitter lightly sweet. Lots of hops, more than expected in a barley wine. High alcohol is obvious bit not over abundant. Not as smooth as I had hoped for and not as sweet. Average to lighter carbonation and full bodied beer. Overall it is ok but not the best barleywine I have tried.

Light amber color. Very hoppy citrusy nose with massive caramel notes. Light body, tons of hops, tons of malt, Lots of bitterness, citrusy bitterness in the finish with lots of caramel. Typical American BW.

Nice American barley wine. Pours nice orange/copper with small beige head. Nose is citrus with slight burnt toffee. Flavour is sweet with same toffee notes. Some warming booze and hop punch. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - cute, tiny 8.4 oz can. Pours a deep dark, sparkling copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma has some nutty accents, a hint of sweet bubble gum. Flavor is thick and full-bodied with some hints of citrus, some pomegranate-like fruity sweetness, a touch of dates and raisins, a brief hint of Christmas spices, just a touch of port-like booziness. Mouthfeel is rich and thick. Impressed.

It pours a caramel cloudy color with a large tan head. There are aromas of molasses, citrus, plums, grains, figs, and alcohol. The flavors are dominated by the molasses and alcohol with the citrus, plums, grains, and figs in the background. It has a full body with a slightly hot alcohol feel to it with strong bitterness. Overall, this is a strong alcohol beer that finishes a bit hot with a good combination of citrus and dark fruits combined with molasses and grains.

Aroma is malts and slightly burnt toffee/caramel. The flavor is malts, caramel/liqueur, fruit, mild hops and a mix of alcohol and medium sweetness in the finish.

Small can in Portland. Clearish red brown. Brandy and dessert wine. Sweet hoppy American barleywine. Pretty typical, solid, but a little cloying and anonymous. Bitter astringency. Alcohol well hidden. Solid.

Woody, malty aroma with barleywine sweetness. Medium orange/amber color with a wispy, finely laced white head. Good malt sugar and butterscotch sweetness balanced by an earthy bitterness with notes of green olives. Nice alcohol bite but it seems tame for 11.5%. Finishes a little hot with lasting sweetness and earthy, mushroomy bitterness. Nice English style barleywine.

250 ml can into tulip glass, canned on 12/17/2015. Pours slightly hazy reddish/orange/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, pineapple, citrus peel, raisin, plum, fig, leather, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops, fruity yeast, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, pineapple, citrus peel, raisin, plum, fig, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, apricot, pineapple, raisin, plum, fig, leather, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, fruity yeast, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and creamy/slick balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice American Barleywine. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops, fruity yeast, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured a deep amber with a slight bit of head which was gone quickly.....aroma is pure barleywine, raisins, date, sweet malt.....taste follows the aroma with raisins, date, sweetness, slight bitterness, alcohol present but not overwhelming, tailing off into a bready, doughy aftertaste. Well done.
