Can hookup from durhambeer - thanks, Bob! I’m a fan of the style, and 21A did a pretty decent pass at it. Nice oily dark brown pour, short of sludgy and with a nice filmy head and pretty admirable lacing. Chocolate and sea salt in the nose with roasted undertones. Flavors are perhaps slightly more muted in some places than they should be, emphasizing the roasty elements a bit too much for the beer’s personality to show through. UPDATED: JAN 5, 2013 Tap @ The BeerMongers... Poured dark brown, not quite black, with a thin, light tan head. Nice nose of cocoa and lactose with charred sugars. Tasted of salted cocoa, brine, bready malts. Nice, thick mouthfeel probably from the hands of the oysters. Thick feeling. On tap at Mancy’s Bluewater Grill in Toledo. Surprised they had this on tap at a random restaurant in Ohio. Anyway -- near black pour. Aroma is roasty and dark chocolate. Tastes are coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, salt, soy, toffee. Didn’t realize they actually put oysters in until rating it -- I guess that’s the salty vibe. Overall, good enough that I drank three of them over a nice dinner.

On tap at the brewery yesterday. Dark brown color with a little tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor was basic oatmeal stout, mild roasted malts with light notes of chocolate and coffee. I was unable to detect anything in the aroma or the flavor that would suggest the oyster shells were ever there. Very dark brown colour. Almost black. Small light beige head. Bold roasted malt aroma. Chocolate and raisins. Body is fairly light. Crisp refreshing finish.
