You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didnt expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. Were sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter.

12 oz can. Pours cloudy bright yellow with thin white lingering head. Aroma is big lemon and earthy spice notes. Taste is dry golden malt, with cardamom and pepper on the finish. Punchy and bracing. Easily one of the driest beers Ive ever had. Big Saison.

Aroma is spices, fruit and grainy malts. The flavor is fruit/berries, slightly grainy malts, Belgian yeast and a mix of spices and mild tartness in the finish.

Nice Saison aroma from a slightly hazy light/medium yellow body with a foamy white head. Lots of dry hay with a slightly spicy white pepper bite. Wheaty and light cracker malt background that is just right with the dryness of the taste. Finishes light and dry with a lasting hay and spice taste. Really nice Saison.

From BandC. Decent saison, didnt really get a big flavor of the cardamom pods, but that is probably good, as a little goes a long way. Sweetened as it warmed. . Serving: Can

Crystal banana blonde body with a ring of head. Mildly clovey, earthy nose, and it repeats a similar sequence on the palate. Rather cookie cutter saison typical of today.

From tap at the brewpub. Light unclear yellow golden color with off white head. Malty, hoppy and yeasty aroma, bread, grassy, light spicy, light fruity. Light sweet, light acidic and moderate bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Can. Pours a hazy golden light orange with a thin white head. Aroma of light fruits, bready malt, spices, apple. Flavor is quite spicy up front, very peppery, cinnamon, cardamom, light fruits, apple, apricot, bready malt. Light, peppery, spicy saison, very tasty. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Spicy character on the nose and palate. Interesting Belgian notes, but I like that they aren't overwhelming. Nice clean finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

For a saison, this is oddly light in color, and even in taste, it has a tartness to it thats unexpected. But the spiciness it has is just perfect. The can says its brewed with cardamom, and that must be what gives it a nice effect that combines a light and crisp summer beer with a stronger bodied session beer. The combination is nice.

I poured it from the can into a glass. It pours a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma is lemon and spice. The taste is lemon, clove, yeast, and hops. Its dry and bitter. Its very crisp. This was flavorful and refreshing.

Pours a hazy bright yellow with white head. A sour citrus and yeast aroma. A citrus, wheat and yeast taste that suddenly has a grainy and bad malt taste that lingers.
