Nice beer, but not as sessionable as I had hoped. Caramel and nutty body, light grassy hops. Tried for the first time at the brewery in 2009. Thorpe429 (5122) - , Illinois, USA - DEC 1, 2010
On tap at the brewpub in August 2009.
Pours a darker gold with a whitish head and a bit of lacing. Nose is not leaning toward any extreme, just a few mild bits here and there, although I suppose that is certainly typical for the style. A bit of bready sweetness alongside a small amount of light fruit. Taste is pretty similar with a bit more sweetness and some slight grain coming through. Light to medium body. Pretty decent brew.

Draft, at a Royals tailgate. Pour is copper golden, with a nice, well formed one inch light tan head. Aroma is softly roasted malt, with a light caramel sweetness and bready toastiness. Behind is floral hop. Nice, welcoming nose. Taste is the nose, though features the floral hops more prominently along with the nice interplay between the sweet and roast. The finish is very clean, and has the biscuity sweet toast. Palate was perfect for a sessionable tailgate beer - light to medium bodied, nice active and soft carbonation and a clean finish. Really well made beer. DrnkMcDermott (3203) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - AUG 25, 2009
Beer #35 of 42 at GTMW, 8-8-09. My brother-in-law lived in Lawrenceville once, then he divorced my sister and became a Pentecostal. So screw him,… sorry, I’m transcribing my tasting notes from voice recording on my cell phone.Gregis (1281) - Stilwell, Kansas, USA - AUG 21, 2009
Here’s a nice amber ale. Nice thin, clingy beer head. I don’t get a lot of beer in this style. Smell is a nice hoppy, slightly malty taste. Taste is just great beer. Very nice hop bitterness, no specific hop to speak of, but it just slaps against the malt. The mouthfeel brings everything together nicely.
On tap at the brewpub. Pours a weak tea copper with a thin beige head. The nose is a pleasant blend of toasty, biscuity malt with a lightly fruity supporting note. Light to medium-bodied and effervescent with a fairly tight bitter finish. The flavor follows the nose with toasty, biscuity malt and a fruity hop or yeast note in support; it’s lightly dry and toasty in the finish. This is quite different from Anchor Steam, but it’s a pretty enjoyable session beer.

(Draught) Pours a clear golden body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grass, mustiness, florals, and some nuts. Flavor of mild hops (herbal, grass, earth) and bready malt with a dry, bitter finish. drjay44 (3956) - Salida, Colorado, USA - MAY 22, 2009
Draft at the brewery. Pours a thin head of good duration, over a golden brown (SRM 10) clear body.....nose of mild malt and hop, with a bit of bread and slight floral tones....tastes of medium sweet malt to start the hop balance comes in.....mouth feel medium. This meets the style well and is a good attempt. 3fourths (9386) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 13, 2008
Dark copper colored body, clear and filtered. Has that nice crunchy, harsh roughness - a heavy dose of cracker barley and crusty dried honey syrup sweetness. Bright on the palate, moderately astringent and rough, but crisp and fresh. A nice granola, graham cracker and honey malt sweetness in the finish, with a snappy, rough baked dough yeast note. Decent stuff. heemer77 (5362) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - SEP 23, 2008
The body was dark amber with iced tea brown at the edges. There was also an off white head. The aroma was fresh cut apples with some caramel and almonds. There taste was lightly bitter bread crust with some apple core. There was some iced tea in the finish. Decent. beastiefan2k (4271) - HdG (past: NYC, KS, Rain City), Maryland, USA - SEP 22, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 7, 2011 Growler from brewpub. Pours a slightly darker, clear, copper color. Has a small head and leaves a sticky lacing. Aroma is hoppy (green rubber hops). Behind that is just a clean, empty brew. Taste is strong on the bitterness from the hops and gain nothing much past that. Its basically a hoppy, clean, amber ale with a dressed up like a Cali Common. What’s that about pigs and lipstick? 6/3/6/3/13
Re-rate: shaker at the brewpub. I stand by every word in that previous rating but I am not sure why I was so harsh with the ratings. 7/3/7/3/15
