Origin of name: based on the date of the first official written report of the existence of the brewery from 1530, when the brothers TAS and Jaroslav Černohorský of Boskovice shared the property and mentions the malt-house and the brewery. A special Moravian beer made with Moravian ingredients – Černá Hora spring water, barley from the fields of Southern Moravia, semi-early red hops from the area around Tršice.

Taste: this beer is characterized by its excellent head, golden brown color, and outstanding vigor and fullness. It is distinguished by its subtle well-balanced bitterness and slightly sweetish character.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge off-white head. Dense malty and fruity aroma. Flavour is fruity malt as well, solid sweetness and fruity. Ends with a mild fruity accent with a light malt flavour.

Bottled at Pivovarsky Klub, Prague. Clear golden, small head. Fruity and somewhat ashy. Sweet and juicy with medium body. An excess of sweet malt makes it a bit syrupy. Despite a quite bitter finish it would have needed more hops to balance it fully.

Tranquillity (2483) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 10, 2008
Bottled, thanks to FatPhil! Malty, alcoholic aroma. Light-red orange. Taste sweet, malty. Quite tasty.

FatPhil (16896) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 3, 2008
330ml bottle.
Rich orange, no head. Fairly bland aroma - malty, sweet, and a bit boozy. Pretty good full-bodied sticky body, but some astringent hops. Taste a little boozy after it warms a little. However, not bad for 6.3%.

In short: A too-sweet fruity strong lager completely lacking in the hops department.
How: Bottle at Velkorybnický Hastrman + Tap at Pivovarsky Klub
The look: Clear golden blonde with a small white head.
In long: This beer is just too sweet and has nothing to balance it off. Syrupy sticky body. Honeyed bread, alcohol apparent (at 6.2%!!!). Some pears, concentrate apple juice. After-taste of rotten citrus fruits. Where are the hops. After the first few sips I thought it was a very boring beer the more I drank it the more it felt in the “off” annoying territory. A unpleasant weird beer, the only thing that is not odd about this beer it its name.

(Rating #1543)

My Bottom Line:
This basic strong lager offers but some honeyed alcohol and candies to the flavor seeker. Far from the best offering from this brewery.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam shrouds the honey blond.
-The nose is very tame and not alluring.
-A vague fruitiness leaks from the honey.
-Some bitterness rises in the finish.
-Is it me or has this brewery gone commercial in the last few years?

On tap at Pivovarsky Klub, Praha.

Quack-Duck (9487) - Down South, GERMANY - JAN 11, 2008
bottle. Clear golden colour, nearly amber, creamy white head. Sweet and malty, slightly hoppy with a touch of warming alcohol.

MoritzF (10068) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - NOV 12, 2007
(33cl bottle) Clear, golden colour with a medium-sized, not very persisting foamy white head. Sweet, slightly buttery and bready malt aroma with a subtle fruity and shy herbal hoppy touch. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour towards the finish, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Robust malty base, bready and minimal honey-fruity taste; malt-accented, slightly herbal hoppy finish. This is style-wise a pale Bock if you ask me and a decent one.

oh6gdx (26487) - Vasa, FINLAND - OCT 25, 2007
Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized whitre head. Aroma is really fruity diacetyl, grass and even some yeasty hints. Flavour is very much the same along with caramel and grassyness.
