Origin of name: This beer is named after its unique garnet red-brown color (darker than most dark beers). The color of Černá Hora Granát could lead its consumer to call it a "black beer". Taste: it is characterized by its fullness, sweetness and very dark color. A high proportion of Bavarian, caramel and coloring malt based on a longstanding recipe gives the beer its unmistakable caramel taste and markedly influences its bitterness. It is distinguishable by its good head and vigor. Has won 1st place in category of dark lagers upon competition - "The Golden Cup PIVEX - BEER 1999". Winning competition "Dočesná Žatec" in 1995 -1999 years

Tap at Slovansky lipy. Dark brown, orange tints. Nose of coffee, licorice, caramel, chocolate, cream. Rather sweet, flavorful, full. Well done though not mind-blowing.

Aromat: karmel, przypieczona skórka od chleba. Barwa: czarna. Piana: średnio-obfita. Wysycenie: średnio-wysokie. W smaku sporo karmelu i przypieczonego chleba, trochę kwasowości, niezbyt wysoka goryczka. Piwo jest wytrawne, mało ciała. Dobre i pijalne ciemne piwo, zaskakująco aromatyczne.

Bottle shared on the train to the Cotteridge Convention 2015. Thanks to Fergus for this one. Pours clear amber-brown with a creamy tan head. The nose holds toasted brown bread and caramel. Medium sweet flavor with a slight metallic edge, light burnt toast, dry caramel, mild earthy bitterness. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced in the finish with more burnt toasted brown bread, light grain, toffee, earthy hops. Very nice dunkel.

Bottle shared on the train Euston -> Birmingham, Cotteridge convention, 24/01/2015. Bottle picked up in Prague. Caramel / reddy brown coloured pour with a creamy head. Aroma is woody, raisin, malty, nutty and a little earth. Flavour is composed of sweet nutty caramel malts, raisin, wheats, caramel nutty grains. Palate is semi-sweet, moderate carbonation. Pretty decent.

0,5l bottle. Dark color with small beige head. Aroma of malt and roasted malt. Taste coffee, chocolate and honey, medium body, short bitter finish, very balanced. Excellent dark lager, one of my favorite.

0,5 bottle, brewed as a Karlovar Černý Granát. Pours dark brown color with medium, mostly lasting beige head. Good head lacing. Fantastic aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, chocolate and coffee notes. Medium to long astringent and chocolate bitter finish. Medium to full body, lively carbonation, oily texture. Awesome, balanced beer, despite it feels and drinks more like a stout than a dunkel. Enjoyed it a lot.

25cl. from tap. Easy to drink dark lager, typically Czech. Some vanilla, sweet flavours, and sugary taste. It hints at caramel and some coffee.

Pours a dark brown color topped with quite some tan colored head. Chocolate aroma, slightly roasty with some coffee notes in there. Taste is mildly sweet, chocolatey with some raosy notes. Finish slightly roasty and bitter, but all very gentle. I like dunkels very much, and this one really proved to be delicious.
