Origin of name: the name of the beer comes for the mutual cooperation between the brewery and the rock group Kern. Taste: Kern combines the classic bitterness of light beers with the sweeter caramel taste of dark beers. These characteristics are not obtained by mixing ready made beer. It obtains its taste by mixing various types of malt during the brewing process. Kern has a reddish to granite color and a pleasant hops to slightly caramel fragrance. It is produced in the attempt to satisfy every beer consumer who likes to combine light and dark beers.

Editor’s note: Formerly ABV used to be 4%.

50 cl on tap in Brno. Copper color, thick creamy offwhite head, no sparkling, looks like a Bitter. Slightly metallic on the nose. Aroma has come caramel, toffee, very light. Little hops, slighly sweetish but balanced, being pretty flat. Almost no gas, thin body, watery, short finish. But soft and fluffy, surprisingly easy to drink, I would be probably able to dry a keg of this.

Barva: tmavě hnědá průhledná, Pěna: středně hustá, držící. Vůně: příjemně karamelově sladová. Chuť: středně hořký cmelový nástup přecházející ve sladový konec. Lehká kávová příchuť, škoda "vodovější" konzistence. Ale jinak slušná desítka s příjemným řízem.

500 ml bottle. BB? From Cuso. Děkuji!

Clear coppery brown colour with a small light tan head.
The aroma is malt, mild sugary sweetness, nuts and caramel.
The flavour is pretty much the same. Rather dry though. Mild grassy hops there too. Not bad. Thinnish.

Cuso (8940) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - APR 6, 2013
Bottle. Chestnut color with medium off-white head. Caramel, roasted malt in aroma. Taste, roasted malt, caramel, fruity notes. Very light bitterness in sweet finish.

Draught at House Of Beer, Krakó. Oh well, if you’re bound for a Czech beer with a major flaw, then this flaw will be a bucketload of diacetyl. Cocoa butter mixed with caramel in the aroma and flavour, weak and watery body. Bland and way too much butter in this one.
