COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Origin of name: the name of the beer comes for the mutual cooperation between the brewery and the rock group Kern. Taste: Kern combines the classic bitterness of light beers with the sweeter caramel taste of dark beers. These characteristics are not obtained by mixing ready made beer. It obtains its taste by mixing various types of malt during the brewing process. Kern has a reddish to granite color and a pleasant hops to slightly caramel fragrance. It is produced in the attempt to satisfy every beer consumer who likes to combine light and dark beers.

Editor’s note: Formerly ABV used to be 4%.

500 ml bottle. BB? From Cuso. Děkuji!
Clear coppery brown colour with a small light tan head. The aroma is malt, mild sugary sweetness, nuts and caramel. The flavour is pretty much the same. Rather dry though. Mild grassy hops there too. Not bad. Thinnish.

pivnizub (10614) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - NOV 15, 2007
Bottle (Diky, Quack-Ducku !): Hazy, quite stable foamy off-white layer, sweet-maölty, caramelly nose with a tinge of herbal hops and molasses; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, quite "full" bodied for a beer of 4.0 % ABV; sweet-bitter finish with distinctive aromatic hops in the aftertaste. Good and well rounded..........

JorisPPattyn (9982) - Ursel, BELGIUM - FEB 23, 2014
Garnet-amber beer with fast gone off-white head. Rather gassy nose, but all in all - virtually absent nose... Some liquorice, as from miles away. Bit of coffee, parsley - and lots of water. Thirteenth draw from some coloured malts (I suppose). Utterly watery, just some carbonation trying to liven things up. This bottle was part of a gift - otherwise the expression " expensive coloured water" might have sprung to mind. Txs all the same, Peter!

MoritzF (9901) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - AUG 10, 2010
(bottle) Slightly hazy, amber with a medium-sized frothy off-white head. Sweet, slightly sugary toast-malty aroma with a tinge of caramel and shy herbal hops. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to almost medium bodied, although it is only a 10°, well-carbonated mouthfeel. Toast-malty taste with light notes of caramel and a discreetly fruity touch; quite dry, moderately bitter finish with a rounded malty sweetness and a touch of herbal hops. Likeable. 14.XI.07

Quack-Duck (9484) - Down South, GERMANY - MAY 26, 2007
clear amber colour with large white head. Slightly watery flavour, but quite nice. Tastes of roasted malt, malt, a little fruity. Finishes with a dry note.

gunnar (9087) - Sandnes, NORWAY - MAR 9, 2011
Bottle from Zly Casy bottle shop Prague. Pours clear amber/dark golden with a big creamy off-white head. Aroma is light fresh, grassy hops and moderate sweet caramel. Taste is caramel with noticeable grassy hops, balanced well , so the focus point is on the sweet malty side. Lingering dry hoppy aftertaste. Good beer.

(Rating #1544)
