50cl Bottle from Houseofbeer.nl. ABV is 3.8%. Clear amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of some caramel, toast, some veggies, all very faint. Flavour is light, fizzy, caramel, light toast, light metallic bitter finish. Light-bodied, very fizzy. Not very good. KnutAlbert (6754) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 8, 2011
A very standard lager, easy drinking, malt hops well balanxed but mundane

Flavours of malts, sweat, bitter, herbs, some dried leaves and watery prunes with a cardboard edge.
Aftertaste is malty, light bitter, some dried leaves and a light sweet tone.
Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, low bodied and a watery texture.

Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.

How: Bottle at Kralovstvi, Prague
The look: Clear dark ruby body with a short-lived beige head
To me a typical Czech Polotmavé (Czech Amber Lagers) is: Hay and biscuit wrapped in caramel. Very light fruity notes with no specific fruits giving the impression of slightly fruity caramel. Moderately sweet. Sweetness is well balanced by dry grassy hops. Body is smooth. Medium carbonation.
This one: As above but a bit dryer and less overall less tasty than average. An overall feeling of lack of freshness although I’m sure all Cerná Hora bottles at Kralovstvi are fresh.
Bottle @ home shared by me. Dark amber colour with a huge off-white head. Smells malty, green leafs, nothing crazy. Tastes slightly caramel, malty, bitter, slightly watery. Thin body, soft carbo. Christos (5791) - Arnhem, NETHERLANDS - MAY 19, 2014
Bottle 500 ml at home, into a big Guinness glass. ABV 3.8%
Amber coloured, still transparent , minimal activity in the glass. Two fingers of thick and soapy tan head, with good retention, leaving minimal lacing on the glass.
Aroma of caramel, toffee, malts, kind of fruity.
Taste is grassy and malty, nothing very interesting, then some caramel and light toffee, along with faint metal.
Medium thin body, average carbonation.
Overall okay beer. Marko (5718) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 22, 2014
Brežice Beer Fest. Typical dark amber polotmavé body with a small white head. Mild sweetish aroma, caramel and not much else really. Sticky malt-intensive taste, again with aggressive (?!) caramel, while being slightly too watery. What? All in all, can’t say I liked it that much, but it’s OK for the ABV and all. Not my style. djoeye (4605) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 2, 2017
Aroma; fruit, caramel, malts, toffee, grass, dark bread.

Overall; very solid brew. Super traditional.
