Origin of name: the name of the beer comes for the mutual cooperation between the brewery and the rock group Kern. Taste: Kern combines the classic bitterness of light beers with the sweeter caramel taste of dark beers. These characteristics are not obtained by mixing ready made beer. It obtains its taste by mixing various types of malt during the brewing process. Kern has a reddish to granite color and a pleasant hops to slightly caramel fragrance. It is produced in the attempt to satisfy every beer consumer who likes to combine light and dark beers.

Editor’s note: Formerly ABV used to be 4%.

Botttle tasted at „Pivo Söröző”, Bp. Clear dark amber pour with a medium off-white head, which remains filmy. Sweetsourish smell of caramell and nuts. Pleasantly sharp start, mouthfeel is a bit thin, but o:k. Medium kinded aroma of caramell, nuts, grass and yeast, flavour is of toffee and roasted nuts. The finish brings spice, citrus and nutty bitterness along, which remain in a nutty aftertaste. Easy drinkable, pleasant vienna stuff.

Aroma; fruit, caramel, malts, toffee, grass, dark bread. Look; beige head on misty red-copper body. Aroma; toffee, fruit, caramel, grass, malts, dark bread. Feel; good body, smooth’ish. Overall; very solid brew. Super traditional.

Bottle from the dram shop, sheffield. Dark maroon colour with small white head. Aroma of caramel and malt, very moreish. Taste is savoury and sweet, not much bitterness. A bit thin and fizzy. Ok beer.

BOTTLE 50 CL. BB 02-SEP-2015. Clear deep red, beige head. Aroma is lightly toasted malts, white loaf as well as sweet bread notes. The taste is simple and the body is quite thin. A touch of malts, lightly toasted, light to moderate bitter finish with, again, some burnt notes that feel a bit harsh. Decent.

Butelka, 0,5. Piwo o kolorze czerwonym.

MarkoNm (3013) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - FEB 4, 2015
Purs a dark amber brown color, topped with a decent and lasting off-white head. It has a mild malty aroma with pleasant caramel notes later on. Sweet and caramel taste, slightly biscuity as well. Pretty nice.

Clear brown copper half dark appearance, medium head. Malty and nutty. Mild sweetness, grassy. Overall decent and satisfying.

Brežice Beer Fest. Typical dark amber polotmavé body with a small white head. Mild sweetish aroma, caramel and not much else really. Sticky malt-intensive taste, again with aggressive (?!) caramel, while being slightly too watery. What? All in all, can’t say I liked it that much, but it’s OK for the ABV and all. Not my style.
