Draft at the Bridge in STL. Hazy orange-amber with a creamy head. Drinks with an almost milky consistency, a nicely balanced beer that leans heavily on citric hoppiness but also brings a great backbone. Great intro for me to this new brewery. (#4934, 1/24/2013)
Draft pour pint at Brouwers, Seattle during their 12th anniversary party. All day celebration! Clean, and shiny golden pour with a sticky head and lacing. Tropical heavy hop.aroma. Flavor is thick, juicy hop quality a heavy malt. Clearly a big IPA, that surprises me that it isnít a clear imperial. Overall a nice IPA. Art of Neurosis is an apt name for 2nd Shiftís brew. Its balance and nuances are indicative of how a well-brewed IPA can be approachable and lovely. For lack of a less pretentious term, an art form. At the same time, itís made with Simcoe and Columbus - 2 aggressive American hops. IPA is an art you have to be perhaps a bit crazy to appreciate. Aroma is bright and citrusy and a bit tropical. Pineapple, peach, tangerine, grapefruit, orange, and pine aromatics. Tropical fruit continuity in the taste also with some caramel malt in the background. Feel is creamy and crisp. A- Apricot, peach, mango, bread, grass.
A- Orange color, hazy liquid, beige head.
T- Stale biscuits, grass, pine, bitter, malty, caramel, stone fruits.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish.
O- Unique ipa. Not much bitterness other than on the finish. The malts arenít really caramel forward. Almost more of a stale biscuit with some fruit preserve kind of thing. Not bad.

On tap at baileys range. Good if not inventive IPA. It does everything adequately with good hop profile, carbonated mouthfeel and good aftertaste. Refreshing, I wish it came in 6 packs.

Tasted on tap at the 2016 Centennial Fest in a mini snifter glass. It poured a clear golden colour with weak white foam, which quickly subsided, leaving no lace. Basic maltbill, a little crystal sweetness in the taste but finished with a pleasant hoppy dryness. Obviously dominated by hops throughout: grapefruity, dank weed, pine resin, black pepper. Light-medium body, strong carbonation to splash it all around. Elevated alcohol, but not too hot. Reputed to be one of the best big A-IPAs around, and it IS pretty good, donít get me wrong, but nothing really unique or outstanding except for the lack of glaring flaws, I suppose. On tap at Shamrocks. Poured a copper color with a nice tan head and good lacing. Aroma of fruit, bit of pine and grapefruit. Taste of fruit with a trace of pine and light malt sweetness. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Moderate body, crisp clean and quite refreshing. nicely crafted beer.
