UPDATED: FEB 17, 2018 On draft at iTap CWE. Aroma 8 /10: coffee, 'dirt' according to my friend. I'll call it roasted and earthy. Appearance 3 /5: 'black like a bad person's heart.' I'll give it a 3,because while it is indeed very black, there is little to no head. Palate 4 /5: 'I don't know what palate is.' robust but smooth body, easily drinkable. Taste 8/10: 'it's a little sour. I don't like sour beers.' I'm not sure where my dear friend is getting the sour, but I suspect it comes from the boozy finish. Starts off very coffee and cacao. Overall 17 /20: 'it tastes pretty good, but it's not a perfect beer. It would be better if it were less boozy, more fizzy, and a little sweeter. But, this beer can't help it. This beer was never meant to be that. This entire site is a travesty.' ...i have nothing to add. I think it's a solid stout. Smooth, coffee, and cacao. Easy to drink, equally boozy. Final: 4.0

Easy drinking for such a big one. Smooth all around with a good deal of coffee - berry, sweet, dark fruit, chocolate. Oily texture and pretty big bodied. Nice.

On tap at 2nd Shift, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of coffee upfront, with a silky body. Flavour is absolutely decadent, with heaps of lush coffee, light vanilla, light cocoa and almost no roast. Sweet but far from cloying. The coffee is just fantastic here. What a decadent treat.

Poured a black in color with a tan, sudsy head. Chocolate and roast coffee aroma. Sweet, thick, roasted coffee and chocolate flavors Notes: Westport Strong Ale Festival 2017

Strykzone (7848) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - OCT 19, 2017
Draft at the brewery served in a clear smaller coffee shaped cup. Almost black with a tan blotchy head. Big coffee aroma is roasty and earthy. Flavor begins with that. It tastes fresh and quality. Big dark malts with some vanilla. Chooclate comes later and is sweet milk variety and that grows to the finish. There is a lot to like with this one. Good stuff!

Bottle from Greg, thanks a bunch! Pours near black with a nice finger worth of a khaki colored head. Decent legs and spotty lacing. Aromas of chocolate syrup, tons of fresh roasted coffee, lught vanilla, light caramel and a hint of booze. Taste is loaded with milk chocolate, vanilla milkshake and a fresh ground coffee. Mild acidity, mild nuttiness and a hint a booze. Really tasty beer!

Mild coffee aroma. Dark brown pour, frothy bronze head. Initial smooth, roasted coffee followed by a slightly bitter finish.

750 ml bottle. Thanks, 316nuts. The beer is black with very narrow edges of dark brown. Fairly thick light brown head, fine foam. Nice rich coffee-forward aroma. Nice fudgey chocolate base. Moderate to medium coffee acidity but it doesn’t really get in the way too badly. Light citrus flavor. Big sweet milk chocolate base on the taste. Strong but smooth coffee flavor follows up. Medium roast and a good bit of vanilla. Nice caramel sweetness underneath the chocolate. Smooth, thick mouthfeel. Very rich on the palate. Nice big coffee stout with a chocolate syrup base. Quite tasty.

b3shine (9339) - Indiana, USA - APR 1, 2016
750 ml bottle to goblet at the Side Project Cellar (2016 vintage). Looks solid; undercarbonated though. A still, nearly opaque very dark cola. Smells of dark malt, chocolate, coffee, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a smooth but still medium full-bodied mouthfeel that finishes fairly bitter. Good, but would be a lot better if it had some carbonation.

Bottle shared by Brandon. Pour is black with little head. Aroma is bursting with coffee and brown sugar. Flavor is roasted malt and coffee with plenty of rich toffee notes to round it ou . No burn. Well done.
