8800th rating. 750 ml bottle via STL trade, shared in California for RBWG with my pals. Pours an opaque midnight brown with a small dark tan head that settles into a ring. Notes of molasses, vanilla, fudge, charred oak, toasted sugar, tobacco, rye whiskey, and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, roasty, dry mouthfeel. Nice treatment. Bottle shared during RBWG 2016 - big thanks to P Hale. Pours thick black with a creamy beige head. Strong dark malts in the nose, some burnt coconut, vanilla, dark chocolate. Heavy sweet flavor with syrupy chocolate, alcohol, burnt wood, vanilla, raisins, figs. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more dark chocolate, scorched earth, espresso, roast, booze, vanilla. Good stuff. Quite hearty, nicely layered. b3shine (9281) - Indiana, USA - JAN 4, 2016
Draft to stemmed glass at Side Project Cellar (from notes). Looks good; an opaque black with foamy beige head. Smells good too; loads of chocolate alongside notes of vanilla and oak. Tastes like it smells with a pleasantly warming medium-full to full-bodied mouthfeel. A bit of spice on the tongue as well. Delicious! beernbourbon (1604) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - JAN 2, 2016
