puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle on a Sunday night. Pours with a lofty head that dies down quick, medium orange body, cloudy after multiple days rest vertical in the fridge. The nose is muddled, citric, with wheat and allspice. Not particularly assertive. There is a sharp, bitter note to this in the aroma, almost hoppy. The carbonation pops in the mouth, but the acidity is quite restrained. Some earthy morel mushrooms present in the finish. Easy drinking but not particularly exciting; certainly not worth $50.

bergstaden (2990) - Røros, NORWAY - APR 13, 2012
Hazy deep golden with an off white head - aroma of sour fruits - nice sour taste of fruits and lemon - good lasting sour aftertaste - nice and refreshing

Scopey (14778) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
Bottle at home with Lorna. Gusher! It pours cloudy orange, with a thick yellow-white head. The nose is sulphur, wood, tart lemon, mould, white grape and daisies. The taste is lemon, white grape, grapefruit, vinous, feta cheese, wood, mould, vinegar, lactic acid and floral, with underlying honey sweetness to balance everything out . Medium body and lively carbonation. Great level of complexity. Mouth-puckering tartness. A great gueuze all round.

Flavor is sweet, tart, lemons, funk, vegetables, grass, grain, hay. The flavor has a really great gueziness. Full bodied, tart finish with a refreshing level of carbonation.

Poured into a tasting glass. Bottle shared among six of us, so about 4 oz. for me. Consumed second of our four seasons tasting. 4.0 A: Moderately hazed yellow orange. A little darker and more orange than Lente. Two and a half fingers of foamy white head. Good retention and moderate amounts of spotty lacing left behind. 4.0 S: Lots of mustiness in this. Compared to Lente, this is much more earthy with much less fruit. Lots of lemon in this though. Least lactic of the four. Grainy maltiness, rotting wood, wet grass, and forest after a rain. 4.0 T: Pretty much follows the nose. Earthiest season, least fruity, and probably the least funky as well. This was the only one that had a considerable astringency. 4.5 M: Lighter body. Gueuze level carbonation that is highly spritzy with a solid creaminess, though maybe a tad less creamy than the others. Super smooth. 4.0 D: This was my least favorite season, but it was still a damn good beer. Would drink this all the time if I could afford to. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 03-23-2012 17:44:19
