Super rich and dark red pour. Pinkish head. Flavors of tart cherries up front, a red wine note--chianti, nice yeast, tartness, some funk. Freaking great.

mcberko (20268) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 11, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 13, 2013 375mL bottle from the 3 Fonteinen brewery shop, pours a deep dark pink-tinted mahogany with a small pink head. Aroma of extremely potent cherries -- amazing depth to them -- with a touch of funk. Flavour is sure intense, alright, with incredibly potent dark cherries dominating everything. Not really any sweetness, but yet the mouthfeel doesn’t feel very dry. There is a glimpse of the 3 Fonteinen signature funk buried underneath which provides more complexity. Amazing kriek - one of the best I’ve had.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2013 Bottle. Aroma of big sweet jammy cherries and raspberries. Sweet pitted cherries. Straight up cherry jam. Taste is more sweet jammy cherry. Light lactic sourness. Definitely sweet jam cherry forward. Cherry jam dominates. Drie fonteinen funk buried. Good though. reminiscent of new glarus fruit beers. where is this @ on ratelabelart.com?

brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Blood red pour with a pink head. Very heavy on the cherries, as one would expect. Cherry skins and pits, sweet fruit, and pie. A bit of a spice character, actually. Hints of grass and lemon. Somewhat sweet on both the aroma and taste. Mild lactic tartness, some grass, and notes of green apple. Great cherry flavor, of course. Certainly intense...

Scopey (16537) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 5, 2013
UPDATED: OCT 21, 2017 Bottle at 3 Fonteinen, during TdG 2013. It pours dark red (near purple) with a medium pink head. The nose is fresh cherry, jam, red grape, light acidity and in the background some wood, marzipan and almond. The taste is Granny Smith Apple, red grape, fresh dark cherry, Cherry Drops, almost vinous, mild acidity, wood, earth and subtle almond with a tart finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Very fruity and very delicious!
