pours golden yellow with a thick white head that lasts. Aroma is lemon, oak, and lots of musty barnyard funk. Taste is lemon, pineapple, mouth puckering tart on a bed of oak and coconut. Perfect carbonation. Best of the style I’ve had.
Brussels Trip. Backlog. Our bottle (2016) tasted more like czech pils than a gueze. Herbs, cereal, hay, grass, some leather. Light bitter, light sour. beerplace (1737) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 19, 2017
375ml bottle at Alex’s (thx, man!) with Jamey. Bottled on 2011-02-17. Pours a hazy golden with a weak white head. Aroma is very fruity and slightly earthy. Taste is similar with funky notes. Quite tart. Very nice. Piotrek4 (209) - Lublin, POLAND - AUG 19, 2017
W aromacie dużo orzechów włoskich i skórzanego paska, ogólnie przyjemnie. W smaku natomiast już więcej niż przyjemnie. Znowu dużo skórzanego paska, mocno dojrzały orzech włoski, jest też pestka z winogrona. Wszystko na najwyższym poziomie intensywności, cudowny lambik. 375 ml bottle shared by AdamChandler. The aroma is strong oak, mld barnyard, mild acid. The flavor has lasting oak, slightly sour, maybe a funky citrus. salvaticas (847) - - JUL 8, 2017
This shows a medium bodied with a soft carbonation. The flavor is really something. Almost to much funky oak for my own tastes. Bold for sure.
Bottle pour at Lambiczoon in Milan. I like many styles of beer - thought I liked gueze - but something about this doesn't sit right with me. Aroma is sour. Nice. Pours a cloudy amber. Flavor is super sour and super bitter, but with a really strange aftertaste - amost like stale overcooked rice. I may just not have the palate for it. fkoolen (1254) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 24, 2017
2011 ed @ cafe Rose Red, Bruges. Served in a basket. Cloudy murky golden, offwhite creamy head. Grapefruit, lemon, white grapes, green apples, vinegar, honey, vanilla, earthy, dry, tard, medium-high acidity. Insanely lingering aftertaste, fruity, funky yeasts, dry and tard. Good body, low-medium carbonation, soft mouthfeel. Really complex and balanced. MartyW (280) - DENMARK - MAY 27, 2017
750ml bottle at the 3 Fonteinen restaurant. Golden Blend Oude Geuze bottling date 12/12/2014. Aroma of dusty, musky, horse blanket, light to moderate vinegar, oak. Taste is young, with quite strong farm flavour, goat, oak, musky, cellar. Aftertaste is moderate to very sour, with a touch of toasted barley. Really good, but it will most likely be even better after some more years of aging.
