Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Deep, deep ruby red in color, bright red head. Aroma is extremely sour. Taste is definitely a Kriek-hits you square in the mouth with a fermented fruitiness that doesnt turn too sweet. Normally I enjoy these sour krieks, but this one just made my mouth twist a little. Luckily, the decaying fruit flavor dissipates into a sweeter aftertaste, but...

Vintage bottle (2 years) shared at Luppolo Station in Rome by Fabio, drunk with daniele, Mortlach and all the pub staff. Grazie ragazzi ;) Cherry skin pour very intense and bright, pinkish foamy head. Nose is vinous, red fruit, silk sour notes and quite a mint note. Just great. Mouth is vinous, elegant, soft and pungent with a herbal bitterness. Fantastic!
