Bottle, 11C. Deep amber with a light beige head that lasts. Clear, leaving lots of sediment in the bottle. Brooding aroma of toffee, earth, grapefruit and peaches. Creamy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation. Very sweet with loads of bitterness that cuts through the sweetness. Really quite English-tasting (struck me as an ESA cum barley wine). Peach, toffee/ butterscotch, earth, spices, grapefruit, kumquat, muscatels. A breath of alcohol at the end. Very rich. If I see more of these, I’ll give it a couple of years (and maybe share it). Fine brew. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Bottle at Mrs Parma’s and the Rainbow Hotel. Bold and malty, not so well balanced. Aromas of caramel, alcohol, anisette, grain, and toffee. Taste is sweet, with very long length. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Brown, with a frothy head. Jade (435) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 30, 2012
Hazy caramel colour with minimal carbonation and very little head. Sweet caramel and fruit aroma with a hint of oak. Bitter and tart fruit, lasting bitter after taste.
