Pours a hazy copper amber. Tan beige head. Malt driven aromas of dark stone fruit, caramel and a strangely present citrus. Taste reflects this, with a fruit cake rum flavour, sweet malts and just a tad of fruity hop bitterness. Excellent vinhol (344) - AUSTRALIA - JUL 18, 2014

From a 500ml bottle on 26/1/2013. Pours a very cloudy light amber with a small head. Has a very slight aroma of fruit, spice and toffee malt. The flavour features a bit more toffee malt, a bit of caramel, some sweet citrus and dark fruit, a touch of spice, and finishes with a medium bitterness. The palate is a touch watery. Okay, but I was expecting more. mkel07 (6140) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - JUL 30, 2011
500ml bottle. Dark copper fruit cake colour witha nice layer of tan foam that fills the nose. Light in the mouth with a spiced fruit flavour that is smooth and velvety with a long lasting finish. Dredd (947) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - FEB 9, 2011
Nice zesty aroma with cloudy brown body and tan head. Flavour is a good bit of apricot, stonefruit breadiness that finishes with some good bitterness and lingering sweetness.

Tried on tap at the Sail & Anchor. Dark copper body with short head. Caramel and crystal malt and figs in the taste, not too rich nor complex, alcohol just noticeable. Drank alright easily sessionable but thats it. Davros (3209) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 15, 2010
Pours copper/ruby with a very small but lasting head.
Nose is very heavy on the malt, with caramel, golden syrup and figs to be found. Very rich. Nutty and bready notes follow later. Resinous hops are noticeable but struggle to keep up with the malt. Very nice!
Flavours are similarly rich with loads of nutty notes, darker malt (even some prominent roasted barley) and some of the caramel mentioned earlier. Hops really take a back seat here. Finishes with an assertive roasty and hoppy bitterness. Some alcohol is just noticeable.
The body could be a bit richer, with such complex flavours it sometimes becomes watery.
Seems to be a mish-mash of the ESB and English strong ale stryles, with a healthy dose of roasted barley chucked in for good measure. bluebetty (1021) - AUSTRALIA - FEB 27, 2010
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark brown with a reddish tinge around the sides. Small creamy tan coloured head. Not much in the way of lacing. Aromas are nutty and quite earthy. Flavours of tosted nuts, some malt sweetness. Reasonably bitter finish, Mouthfeel is just about right, Great beer. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - FEB 20, 2010
