We decided to rebel against the status quo when we created our amber. We took a Belgian Abbey Single, upped the ABV, added some rye malt, and created a complex, yet very easy drinking, ale. Grab a sample and let us know what you think.

Served kind of cold, with a small, creamy, light tan head that slowly settled and plenty of sheeting lace. Color is a clear, darker amber with plenty of bubble trails. Aroma is a very mild malt, fruit, yeast. Flavor is like nose, sweet in front followed quickly with carbonic tang and then some bitter and not much else. Body and carbonation are good. Finish is like flavor, on the short side, and very drinkable if non-descript. Though, according to style, the Belgian Singles are likewise understated - so - they score points here in that way.

Not a great Belgian style beer. Weak and mild. Could use a little more spice and sweetness. Thin bodied.

12 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, served at cellar temp in a Duvel glass. Translucent to murky amber-copper, moderate off-white head that decays to a thin stable ring and a fine coating of dust across the surface...yeasty nose unfortunately exhibits signs of DMS; theres also a honey-vanilla texture to be had but too much of this is unpleasant and vegetal...better on the tongue, moderately to strongly sweet but with the sugar leavened by light yeast and a faint peppery character, with the finish a bit drier and lightly bitter...rather watery body alas, decent carbonation that is not overdone. All in all this fails but its not entirely useless.

Draft. Reddish-copper color with thin, off-white head and substantial lacing. Fruit aroma (cherry and apple) and subtle cinnamon notes. Dry, subtle fruit up front followed by biscuit. Dried fruit in the finish. Mouthfeel is a bit watery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at Sheffields in Chicago. Copper with small white head. Smells of flat grain. A bit like a Vienna lager. Kinda thin. Not much of a bite or finish. Malty grain. Didnt love it.
