Nice hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a nice, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of super piney and resinous, very bitter hops with a lot of grass and herbal elements at play, along with a touch of medicinal, bitter scents. Medium-bodied; Extremely bitter, pungent flavour with a lot of very dry, herbal hop flavours along with a grassy, floral bite that lasts for quite a while and is purely one-dimensional. Some malt comes later on with a good balance, but absolutely no sweetness or complexity - this is just about the grassy, bitter hops with dry flavours all around and no depth. Aftertaste shows a good balance, but just very bitter and dry, with almost a pepper like finish with no sweetness, but there is also not much alcohol showing, either. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA that borders on being a traditional IPA, that shows a dry character and a distinct hop bite, but decidedly shows not much else. Nice to try and at least something different from an Imperial IPA! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 31-May-2017 for US$4,36, sampled at home in Washington just two weeks later on 16-June-2017.

Medium sized white head with very good retention and a spotty lace. Murky, chunky gold appearence. Nose is juicy, citrus and a hint dank, fruity, bit tropical. Med/full bodied, citrus bite, prickly soft carbonation, tangy. Really dry malts are paved over by the citrusy, somewhat resiny hops, citrus juicy goodness, bit of leaf, pissy and a strong bitterness in the long dry finish makes it like old school meets new school. Ballsy brew gents. Nicely played. Me likes. 16oz cans from statelineliquors.

Can. Pours hazy yellow with a rocky, 2-finger, white, fully-lasting head that leaves excellent. Medium bitter, citrus, brown sugar and caramel nose and caramel flavor, heavy sweet and medium bitter tastes, thin texture, medium body and a finish of medium duration. Not well balanced.

Can from Milk and Hops. Mostly clear golden-orange with a white head and coating, spotty lacework. Orange, lemon, and grapefruit. Pine, catty hops, and a little onion. Very clean flavor-wise, with strong maltiness up-front, and a crisp, bitter close. Crisp and dry mouthfeel. Soft carbonation, finishes with a tingle on the tongue. Nicely done.

Can 1/28. Pours a semi clear orange with light white head. Aroma is of light citrus. Medium bitterness, grapefruit, strong malt backbone. Sticky on the tongue, lingering aftertaste. Good.

A bitter beer in a good shaker. Light and lively, pinches the palate. Plenty of citrus and pine.

Type: 16-oz. can Glass: Lagunitas mason jar From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop Price: $7.99 for a 4-pack Purchased: Nov. 4, 2016 Consumed: Nov. 4, 2016 Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA Misc.: No canned on date or anything on the package Had never heard of this beer, but saw it on sale for $7.99 for a 4-pack of 16-oz. cans on a recent trip to Bine & Vine. Bought it on a whim without even looking for a Canned on Date or a rating on Untappd or Beer Advocate. Let’s go with it. Poured a straw-gold yellow hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Outstanding foamy spiderweb lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25) Smelled spoiled melon, mango, peach and nectarine, floral hops, Cascade, Citra, hints of orange marmalade and caramel candy. Different. (Smell - 3.75) Taste followed the nose. Kind of digging it. More juicy than bitter. Getting Centennial, Citra, melon, peach, nectarine, mango, caramel candy (those sticky candy squares), floral, hints of Southern Hemisphere trashy hops, orange marmalade, toffee and even some hints of woody Nugget. (Taste - 4.00) Medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Longer finish. (Feel - 3.75) Had no idea what to expect, but this was pretty good. More malty than bitter, but that isn’t always a bad thing. (Overall - 3.75) 3.88 87 B+
