Tasted from tap on the Mulheim an de ruhr bierborse. Dark colour with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark fruits, brown sugar and chocolate. Taste has some caramel, brown sugar, dark chocolate and malts. The flavour is well balanced but with a lot of presence of the alcohol. Aftertaste is sweet and dry. Next one please!

Deep dark, fruity amlt aroma (barley wine like) with some burnt roasty notes. Extremely easy drinking, strong alcohol finish and fruity flavor with emphasis on toastiness rather than being roasty.

This brew poured a small head of fine to medium sized light brown bubbles that lasted a fairly long time and left a fair lacing. It has a slightly carbonated dark opaque brown body and a very nice strong chocolate malt aroma. With an initial bite that later settles down in the aftertatse, this brew has an interesting complex flavor of mild coffee, bitter hops, caramel malt and sweet. There was something in the aftertaste, I think it was the alcohol, that I didn't care for. It was not smooth enough for my liking as a great porter so my palate is a bit off. But still, an interesting brew to rate.

Bottled, 1999(?) vintage. Near black, rich firm beige head.cSweet and rich, still a bit sugary. Lightly roasty, tarry and very salty. I don’t really think aging this beer does it very good - the hop character is probably all gone by now, but oh well, it was worth a shot...

Bottle. Black body, with a small dark khaki head. (3+) Sweet malty aroma with minute notes of chocolate. Pretty rough grainy bite, not really coherent nature, sweet malt has a tough time poking out. Burnt notes. Average palate. Meh.

Beautiful black pour with a creamy biege head in to my matching glass. Unfortunately this beer is plagued by intense oxidation in only a 6 month old bottle. The aroma is mostly masked, offering only light breadiness and marshmellow, with a touch of roast. Flavor starts out offering good molasses and roast flavors, then descends into a finish of aluminum foil and iron nails. I’d still love to try a less oxidized bottle.

Aroma: Woody, roasty, caramel, alcohol and malt Appearance: Opaque black with a tan head. Flavour: Sweet malty and alcoholic with prunes and figs. No hop flavour or bitterness coming through. Very alcoholic, chocolate and dark cacoa as well as raisins. Mouthfeel: Full bodied chewy creamy and sticky Overall: Very sweet and alcoholic. Like a christmas pudding with a prune and fig center. Very big beer finishes very sweet for a 9.5% abv beer. The grain bill must be huge! This beer is definitely the hangover helper.
