Bottle, 07/10/17. Aroma is caramel, dried fruit, some conifer. Taste is dry, strong, caramel, dried fruit, some red fruit, some conifer. Decent.

@Café Brun. The aroma has raisin, caramel. Bit hazy, dark amber coloured beer with a thin head. The taste is sweet, has some bitterness, dried fruits, hint of roast. The beer is strong in taste, full bodied but with a relative low ABV. Well done.

Pours a medium pillowy tan head with good retention. Aroma of plums, dark malt, dark dried fruit, candy sugar, slight pineapple, slight red fruit, toffee, raisins. Taste is medium sweet, fairly bitter with a fairly dry finish. Notes of roasted malt, string coffee in the finish, bitter hops, liquorice root, red fruit, salmiak, candy sugar, raisins. Texture is sticky to oily, full bodied with medium carbonation

Aroma: 8
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, dark fruit, pine, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Appearance: 5
Opaque dark brown/black beer with slight yeast and with a medium beige/brown head.

Taste/Palate: 9/4
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, dark fruit, pine and chocolate; ends slightly bitter and dry with roasted malts, coffee and hops.

Overall: 17
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Is this a Barley Wine, a Cascadian Dark Ale or an Imperial Stout? I cannot tell. What I do know is that the mix of these three is absolutely amazing. Perfect appearance and a great aroma and palate as well.

Bottle at the brewpub. Pours clear ruby black with a beige head. Aroma of toffee with malt and chocolate. Sweetish taste. Dry bitter finish. Interesting.

Almost black with thin head. Aroma and flavour have an abundance of sweet dried fruits, caramel and dark malts. Also some roasted, slightly burnt notes. There’s a background hoppiness which is slightly resinous and skunky.

Bottle shared. Very dark brown with good sized dark beige head. Lots of roast, nuts, cocoa, cardboard, quite some grass, soft lime, a lit of old moldy oak, dry paper, black currants. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium bodied with a bit dry and tannic finish. A bit dry and woody for a barley wine maybe but it’s quite nice overall.
